Since being sick with multiple viruses I can feel how exhausted my body is. I’m struggling with fatigue again. I’m waking up & doing my best just to shower, eat, & try to get some chores & work done. There’s no other way of describing it then I feel very drained. My eyelids are heavy... my whole body is heavy. Today I woke with a goal to get several things done today so far I’ve managed to shower, put on clothes vs putting on pjs along with doing my hair since there are times if I put in the effort of my appearance I can feel more confident IV myself & the current struggle with my body. I began meal prepping - since I knew I was reaching a point where my food could become wasted if I don’t prepare it since I’ve been unmotivated with my meals. I also did some light stretching. My body feels so very tight - which is one my big indicators that my body is in an autoimmune flare up. For I admit I’m pretty naturally flexible, when my body is tight / sore / heavy like this then it’s a shout to me that we are in a battle mode. I’ve rested several days now - which the fatigue is making me want to stay in bed and sleep but I think it’s time again to try to be more active... sometimes I feel like my body needs that telling to of “I here you want to rest. I hear you want to sleep. But we have to get up. We have to try. After we try we will rest.” For our body gets into the habits of our daily routines. I know my body wants to sleep & rest more after that’s what is been doing routinely. So today I’m practicing gentle yoga, working on my art, & going through my business ideas. I’m running errands & doing laundry. For this is challenging. This is frustrating. But I’m not mad at my body. My body is fighting. And I’m thankful to have a body that fights. Though I could really use a hug right now.
#WringOutTheOld Day 3: Revolved Chair ➰
Embodiment of truth is my intention. The snake skin falls away. Burning away the impurities for the benefit of all beings. Surrendering to a higher power. Spirit inspires the expansion. Loving us. Truly.
When I first started practicing yoga, I was a wreck. I struggled with anxiety attacks, blackouts, and I was barely able to physically hold myself up in a plank or downward facing dog, which was a big deal for me. I’d been an athlete on professional level for most of my life, but as they say, “shit happens.”
Or life happened.
To make a long story short (I wrote an article on @mindbodygreen about it), for the next 5 years I kept taking classes but I didn’t really know what I was doing. To be honest though, I thought I did. I thought I really had this shit down 😜 boy was I wrong.
I ended up signing up for teacher training, and during those few months I learned and progressed more than I had ever done during the 5 years of an almost daily practice.
Flash forward now, six years since my first training and with a 500hr training, neurogenic yoga, exercise science studies and a bunch of other fancy and less fancy certificates under my belt that will probably never leave my garage because who really cares.
I do care about the understanding of my body and the similarities or more importantly the DIFFERENCES between my students.
What works for someone might be completely inappropriate for someone else, just based on their anatomical structure. And what about muscle engagement in different poses? I remember when the muscles in my arches finally came to life and in turn activated my outer calf muscle which gave me cramp but still, how cool isn’t that?
What I really want is to people to learn about their own bodies so that they can make the right decision for them, no matter if it’s in a class or at the gym because it’s true what they say, the yoga practice continues OFF THE MAT.
Like for real.
I’ll be repositioning myself while driving in my car, noticing I’ve been crooked for the past 20 min.
Or lion breaths when someone pisses you off in the DM’s 💨 so if you’re not shitting money and you can’t afford $$$ in trainings but you really want to learn then I’ve started a program- the 28 Day Yoga Immersion- that’s basically like a digital teacher training (videos+photo+members only portal) but for STUDENTS, starts FEB 4th & PRESALE now✨link in bio for info😘
Life is better when you cry a little, laugh a lot, and are thankful for everything you've got. This little man watches me on my mat everyday with this face of curiosity amd amazement as I try to get my bendy self back to the way it use to be before he joined me on the mat. As I cry in frustration sometimes he just smiles and makes me happy its amazing how just a smile can make you happy. 🌚🌟

We are SO excited to have Melissa Hepler on our team, teaching an Ayur-Yoga class every Wednesday night at 6pm. Melissa is an Ayurvedic Health Counselor with a rich background in the healing arts. She believes she was born with this desire. And this is her story... .
As a little girl I remember obsessing over books on my mothers shelf that had pictures of herbs and natural remedies, something about these books made me feel safe and happy. My journey led me to study massage, aesthetics, and eventually to allopathic medicine as a Hospice Nurse. Though I have learned and loved them all, my heart felt incomplete and I began searching for my next step. .
As I was soul searching one day I looked up on my book shelf and was literally almost hit by a book I had been using to naturally heal my own family for over a decade! A book from my beloved teacher Dr. Vasant Lad, The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies. I knew then right there and then Ayurveda was calling me. I have climbed into her loving healing arms and never have looked back. .
The more I learn and implement in my own life, the more whole and complete a human being I become. As my beloved teacher once said, "make Ayurveda your life, and your life becomes poetry". This is an experience I wish none to miss! .
Look at this beautiful airy space! @yogariselondon’s Peckham offering is already a dream (catch me there tonight at 6.30pm). I can’t wait to start at the new Streatham studio! In the meanwhile, come join me for my last Saturday Rocket at @yogahaven Richmond 🚀 and / or for my Saturday workshop in the same location! We will be looking at the practice of vinyasa - what that means in the physical practice as well as the thoughts behind it. We will also explore some of the transitions we often encounter in the practice. Perfect if you need a bit of clarity, or if you have been stuck in the basics for a while and want to take it a step up. We won’t be doing any handstands.
"You stumble around searching for something that will make you happy again, something that can replace your old way of life. It’s not an easy search, and you bump into several unpleasant things along the way, but you have to keep going. Your new lifestyle will be worth the journey, once you find it. Just keep searching."

We've reached that sticky time in January when the fresh energy of the New Year begins to dissipate.⠀
The reality of what it really takes to make a change to your life / health / habits / work begins to set in. ⠀
It feels daunting because it’s new. It’s not what you know. It’s uncomfortable. ⠀
But now is not the time to give up. ⠀
Now is the time to ground down into the earth and stoke that fire deep in your belly. ⠀
It’s called grit. ⠀
And every time you say yes to making a change and doing something differently, even when it feels challenging, you strengthen your resolve. ⠀
Every time you keep going, you strengthen your nervous system and learn to trust yourself. You learn how to stand unshaken in your belief that you are capable, that you CAN do this and you won’t give up. ⠀
And that's where the magic happens 💖⠀
If you’re ready to dig in, come and join me at 6pm for my Dynamic Vinyasa over at @theyogafactorysouthend. See you on the mat 🙏🏻🔥🙏🏻
Last night was a night full of health and immunity boosting food, drinks, and friends 🐒
We started off with #greenjuice of celery, cucumber, and ginger. Then had some carrots. All the while preparing a vegan ramen soup loaded with veggies and mushrooms 🍄🥬 🍜
I also made a cold/flu fighting elixir comprised of: a whole lemon 🍋, grapefruit, orange 🍊, tumeric, and ginger. I mixed about 1oz of that with hot water and Manuka honey 🍯 👅
And to top the night off, I took a hot bath with an herbal soak 🛀🏽

E a partir daqui fazer outras variações.
Por isso eu considero que os dois estão corretos, depende do que você quer enfatizar em sua prática.
👉🏼 E mais uma observação, veja como no segundo vídeo ainda falta um tanto pra minha perna ficar em linha reta com o tronco. 🙈 .
E você, como está o seu #adhomukhasvanasana ?!
House music loving yogi? - Hell yes I am!
I love house music, so was pretty cool to be at Ministry of Sound last night where I’ve had many great times dancing to some of my fave Djs doing something completely different I love - yoga!
Even more surreal to be in the middle of the dance floor on my own busting out my first real pincha hold - no assist, no wall 🙌🤸♀️ 📷@charlottereynoldsyoga

@catvaladezyoga on Inner Thigh ❤️
Tag a friend who could use these stretches!! Runners? Hikers? Spin enthusiasts? People who sit too much (most of us)? These inner thigh stretches are for EVERYONE. You might recall I posted an “advanced” series a while back. This round hits the inner thighs without asking for an extreme range of motion. 🙌🏼
The inner thighs are your adductors (think squeezing together) and one participates in your hamstring stretches. Open muscles in this area are key 🔑🔑🔑 to opening your hips and hamstrings (it’s all connected!). Of course, you will always work with where you are and these poses will probably look different on you. The point is NOT take the same shape as me but to use these as a guideline for accessing YOUR ideal inner thigh opener.
Make it your own. Explore variations and feel free to play with: angles of the spine lengthening away from the hips, different tilts of the pelvis (forward, back or neutral), or different angles of the knee in relation to the hips (high/low, wider/narrower). There are so many variations!
Most of these positions are self-explanatory just by looking at them so I just wanted to note detail for setting up what I call fallen warrior 2 and wide knee childs pose (aka tadpole in yin).
Basically wide knee childs pose is what it sounds like, but rather than think of , think of frog pose, with child’s pose alignment on the lower legs—toes pointing together and hips back or in line with the knees. Again, play with it.
For fallen warrior 2 it’s basically a SUP yoga warrior 2 with a forward fold to the inside of the leg and then play with engagement and angling of the hips and back leg from there. Or: from knee down lunge, spin the back shin OFF the mat to same side as the front foot. With or without blocks bring your hands to the inside of the front leg. Send the hips back, lengthen, find the inner thigh stretch.
Questions? Let me know in the comments or DM me! I do my best to always respond.
