With all this color, how the heck could you not want to nibble?
The key here is to note that certain colors of food indicate an abundance of specific nutrients. For example, yellow and orange fruits and vegetables (citrus fruits, gourds, for example) are abundant in vitamins C and A. Green fruits and veggies (kale, spinach, asparagus, avocado) are high in vitamins K, B, and E. Purple produce on the other hand (eggplant, red cabbage, grapes) are high in vitamins C and K. The reason you can tell these from looking is because plants often derive their colors from various phytochemicalsfound in them. Those chemicals then offer you different nutrients when they're eaten. That's the root of "eating the rainbow." In short, adding a variety of colorful produce to your diet is an easy way to get a lot of vitamins and minerals without putting in too much effort beyond selecting a bunch of colors.
So, what are you waiting for? Optimal health is a simple snack away! 🍓🥕🍒🍋🌰🌶🍊🍉🍈🍇🍍

Fun Fact: Zelli was not particularly fond of the broccoli rabe in the pizza we made. But now he knows what broccoli rabe is, he knows how to make pizza from scratch, AND he knows that pizza can be topped with things other than pepperoni 😋🥦🥕🍅🍠

I made 2 splurge purchases this week: 1) @reddiwip coconut milk whipped cream and 2) @ollynutrition chocolate plant protein powder. I was using @burtsbees vanilla protein but ran out, and wanted to switch up flavors. Turns out I like chocolate better 🍫🤷🏻♀️ ALSO this non-dairy whipped cream is so freakin DELICIOUS, I could eat the whole can at once 🍨

Endorphins are the coolest. I was in a terrible mood yesterday and I just couldn’t shake it, but I did a workout and took a nice long shower and felt at least 75% better. It’s not just about how it makes you look on the outside, but how it makes you feel on the inside 💪🏼

FACT TIME: 🧐
Did you know that:
Every year in the UK approximately 2.6 million cattle, 10 million pigs, 14.5 million sheep and lambs, 80 million fish and 950 million birds are slaughtered for human consumption? 🐮🐷🐏🐟🐥
Each and every one of these animals can perceive, feel and experience pain, happiness and fear, just like us. 💔♥️
Did you know that:
Raising animals for food requires massive amounts of land, food, energy, & water. It contributes to land & water degradation, biodiversity loss, acid rain, coral reef bleaching & deforestation.
It’s obliterating our natural world. 🍂🥀☄️💥🔥
Globally, animal agriculture is responsible for more greenhouse gases than all the world's transportation systems combined. 😱
Did you know that:
Industrial livestock farming relies heavily on antibiotic use to accelerate weight gain and control infection. High meat consumption – especially red and processed meat (think sausages, steak, bacon) is linked with poor health outcomes. 🤯☠️
Final point (if you got this far I love you) 🥰
Most of us have an unprecedented choice when it comes to our diet. If our nutritional needs can be met by consuming foods that are less harmful - then shouldn’t we choose these foods over foods that we know cause harm? ✅
Eating plant based has never been easier, more delicious or more rewarding. It’s LOADS CHEAPER than eating a meat & dairy diet. There are endless options in restaurants, you get to eat with purpose & I can guarantee you’ll feel amazing! 🥳
It’s one of the easiest things we can do to live more ethically. For people, for animals, for planet. 🌍♥️
So will you join me this January? 🙏🏼
