  • Enjoyed with a fried @67pall_mall to complement necessary scotch egg and a burger. There is a lot of excitement around 2008 vintage in champagne, deservedly, seems like a bad bottle of 2008 doesn’t exist. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Ripe pear and apple with lemon peel, pressed pink grapefruit, ginger, underripe peach and acacia flower with refreshing aroma of wet flint. A line of mineral freshness complemented by dancing flavour pretty much all their orchard fruit, citrus, stone fruit refreshed effortlessly by mineral flavour of chalk. Great now, silky and fine with massive ageing potential of 10 ideally 20 or 30 years if aged champagne is your thing. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> TELL ME: What is your favourite 2008?Vintage in champagne?

  • 4th generation Gevrey-Chambertin based Domaine Fourrier since 1990 is managed by Jean-Marie Fourrier who worked two vintages with famed Henri Jayer back in 1988 and 1995 and Domaine Drouhin in Oregon. Team of 5 work full time, with a lot of emphases is on entry-level wine as Jean-Marie believes they are liquid business card of an estate. Youngest vines used for Domaine Bottling are minimum 30 years old with some of them being over 100, gentle extraction with no stem used at any point and as little as max 20% of new oak being applied. Latest experimentation leads Jean-Marie to amphora taste where he taste wine with his visitors seeking feedback, whether this will be implemented remain to be seen. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> 6.7he vineyard currently divided between five owners. • Great experience, [email protected] @celinefontainegagnard @undercover_wines @kilnrestaurant for your hospitality. Kiln serves counter style, share food based on North 🇻🇳 cuisines which are tasty and spicy and if you haven’t been there, no worry new year just started and it is worth adding to your “must do” for 2019 🤣. We drunk wines produce by Chassagne-Montrachet based Domaine Fontaine-Gagnard (Celine Fontaine picture 2) 10 hectares with .08 of Montrachet (enough to fill 1.5 barrel), 0.33 Criots-Batard -Montrachet and .3 Batard-Montrachet with plenty of Chassagne PC such us Morgeot, La Budriotte + few others. I know their whites well, however surprise come with two red Chassagne from 2014 which was unlike what I expect. See notes <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> (Picture 3) Chassagne- Montrachet Rouge 2014- aged in 20% new oak from vines which are 60 years old. Bright ruby with cranberry and red 🍒 , minerals, 🍵 leaf, 💐 and crushed 🌿 . Juicy and pure with silky, fine tannins and delicious cranberry aftertaste. 🤤<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> (Picture 3) Chassagne-Montrachet, 1er Cru, Clos Saint Jean 2014 - 60y old vines and wine see 30% new oak. Fragrant and pure aromatics of dark and red raspberries, blue berries, violet and turned 🌍 . Lovely proportion and symmetry with effortless delivery of pure flavour which are deep and refreshing. Both superb and exciting Pinot, well worth your💵. *for detail on the wines contact @undercover_wines TELL ME SOMETHING: Do you like Chassagne - Montrachet Rouge? • Fantastic wine, amongst other international Pinot Noir, served by @bagherawines during their DRC auction in December 2018. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Medium intense ruby with a mineral intensity of aroma enhanced by 💨 and lifted aromatics of red berry fruit, damp leaf and potpourri. A reminiscent animal character of Gevrey with great symmetry and purity of flavour. Energetic and long, from my recollection feels juicier and more focused then Kammerberg. Becker wines are well structured, athletic rather muscular and to me easily comparable with Burgundy finest. 🍷

  • Fantastic opportunity to sample @marchand_tawse together with a winemaker Thomas Dinel (picture 2). House which stated from mid-2000’s being cooperation between talented Pascal Marchand who managed many fine Burgundian estates such us Domaine du Comte Armand and then @domainedelavougeraie together Canadian financier and wine lover Moray Tawse. There is a mix of own vineyards and negoce wines which are all made very much in the same care and attention with careful extraction and usage of oak with the proportion of the whole bunch on suitable vintages. All in all, about 50+ wines which are worthy your attention. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> .1he which feels one barrel, I felt privileged to sample it. Unusually 100% new oak with 15% Whole cluster. Smoky and earthy nose blended with mix mostly red berries, floral notes and minerals. Dense and sumptuous palate with sweet oak and layered mineral nuances, leading to rich and proportioned finish which is deep and powerful with no sign of brutality. 🍷

  • Thank you, Nicole Lamarche (picture 2) for sharing your passion and love of wine. Nicole oversaw all the aspect of viticulture and vilification together with her cousin Nathalie who look after allocations and office job. Due pricing policy wines are accessible even at the Grand Cru level, Nicole loves to make a wine for people to age and enjoy with family and friends. To me, they are extremely lightly extracted, very subtle oak usage with max 30% new featuring melange of mostly red fruit, floral and minerals. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> 1.32he of Echezeaux Grand sprees across 3 lieux-dits. 0.63he Les Cruots-poor soil with plenty of small stones. 0.24he Champs Traversins-high up on the slope, terroir dominated by marl and sand produced light and fine style. 0.45he Clos-St-Denis -deeper soils rich at the bottom of a slope impart muscle and richness to the wine. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> 2017 Echezeaux Grand Cru has star bright ruby with a perfume of pomegranate, raspberries, 💨 , 🥀 and mineral nuances. Tense and sappy with mostly red fruit, mineral depth and lovely floral accents finishing with Sichuan pepper and spiced red plum. Echezeaux at its finest, great purity and persistence chapeau to Nicole Lamarche. 😎

  • Sine qua Non from Latin translates as an indispensable and essential action, condition, or ingredient. Established by Elaine and Manfred Krankl in 1995 focused on Rhône Grapes such us Marsanne and Roussanne for white and Syrah and Grenache for red. Astonishing wines, as full as the wines with lots of extract, alcohol and density yet they manage to be superbly harmonised and aromatic. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> SQN Label, Syrah 2007 Deep, opaque colour with a fragrance of spiced blackberries, black plum, dark 🍒 , liquorice, bergamot 💐 and charcoal. Rich and muscular hiding its alcohol extremely well being proportioned and structured with fantastic lengths and depth of flavour finishing with sweet cocoa powder and sawdust. @wine_advocate RP gives it 98+, I won’t argue with that as this wine is its own animal being one of the best Syrah produced.

  • Thank you Max Schubert of Iconic Grange produced first produced in 1951, wine which shows best with 10, ideally 20+ years of age. Despite cork which fallen apart during opening (see picture 2), wine was in a perfect shape. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> Deep and extracted core with 🌰 rim and fiercely herbal, dry mint 👃 accompanied by dark 🍒, cassis, 🌍 and sawdust. Mellow and soft tannins, being little ott ripe which seems to shorten its length. Engaging wine ready to be drunk.
