Crinkle Bush, Lomatia silaifolia, another Proteaceae stunner. The Crinkle Bush is a small upright shrub, growing only a couple of metres tall with these beautiful white flowers arriving in summer. This species is also known as the Parsley Fern due to the passing resemblance of the foliage to that of Parsley.
There are 12 species in the Lomatia genus, 4 native to South America and 8 native to East Australia, particularly Tasmania.
Genetic analysis indicates that the Lomatia species found closest together geographically are more closely related to each other, inferring a common ancestor which diversified into the existing species following the breakup of Gondwana. Flora of this kind evolved in a much warmer and much wetter environment than much of Australia today, therefore when Gondwanan flora hitched a ride on the drifting, drying Australia, species like Lomatia retreated to the more humid parts of the country which supported their survival. Some Lomatia species have adapted to nearby drier environments, however this generally speaks to their incompatibility with wider-Australian conditions. As rainforest only covers 2-3% of our remaining native forest, species like this are most at risk of climate-change-induced extinction, due to increases in the frequency and intensity of drought and wildfires.

Do you feel stressed out by life? Go outside and take a walk! I swear: it resets your mind, soul and body. ✨
It just lies in human nature to walk. Listening to your thoughts, the birds, the wind, falling leaves and your breath as you move... It is a healing experience. 🌱 It helps me to reset my focus, review my actions and thoughts, set my goals and put everything into perspective. 💫
I recently learned to embrace listening to uplifting and empowering podcasts. The hosts and their guests inspire me, their stories and anecdotes help me with being critical with my own actions. Here are my current top picks of which I just can't get enough from (random order 😅): #theschoolofgreatness@lewishowes // #geniuslife@maxlugavere //

Thank you for your effort in sharing such poweful messages and getting so many inspiring guests! 🙏 you make my days and push me forward on my journey 🎉
Btw: the video was taken at the incredible #richmondpark in #london last Sunday ☀ It was cold and windy but such an amazing place. I highly recommend going there if you are visiting London. Deers crossing your way, wide anf open fields, beautiful old trees - there is such a beauty in Nature! This 3h walk really was wellness for my body, soul and mind. 😍
Wellllll ... I’ve been pondering long and hard lately, especially today on my 5 mile walk (I love that green hat 💚). I’ve never been overweight but it seems that some sort of childhood trauma is causing me to obsess about my body and all the social media doesn’t help either (most body issues stem from childhood). If I have to look back, I was a chubby 9-11 yr. old but then became anorexic at 13. The cyclic obsessive thoughts have continued ever since, along with the fear of being “chubby” again. That’s a long fucking time to obsess. I’ve tried various eating plans and exercise regimes (HIIT, weights, running, body weight exercises). I’ve always eaten fairly well (protein and veggies).
After over 30 years of this shit my body has not changed that much. I don’t have a drastic weight loss story. I may have lost a few pounds here and there and gained muscle, but nothing major has happened despite all of the thinking and working. My mindset has gone through the biggest transformation of all.
I have been taxed with adrenal fatigue, so really exerting workouts are hard on my body. Doing a fitness comp would literally kill my adrenals. Stress from work has caught up with me and I only have time for the things that bring me peace and joy.
Yesterday I had an epiphany. I’m just gonna exercise intuitively like I eat. If I want to walk, I will walk. If I want to lift, I will lift. If I want to do an app, I’ll do an app. People say you get a flat ass from walking, but my ass ain’t flat (see pic 🍑). I’m naturally long and lean. No matter how hard I work, I don’t get that “ripped” look. But I’m okay with that now. I like my softer look and more so I love figuring out what works best for me. Time to just move freely and enjoy it. Exercise should not be stressful 🧡✌🏼 #fit#steps#findwhatfeelsgood#fitover40#stress#soft#intuitive#exercise#walking#app#fitmom#epiphany#happy#joy#glutes#adrenalfatigue#fitnesscompetition#transformationtuesday#tuesdaymotivation#enjoy#inspiration#designthelifeyouwant
Cutest Christmas gift ever from little Conor!! Between Chiropractic visits and lots of home exercise, this little guy is now up and walking. His mom said this gift was fitting as I helped him “get up on his feet”. Working with kids is so amazing, meaningful- and always a lot of fun❤️ #pediatricChiro#ilovemyjob
