  • Self-Portrait Paris, March-June 1887 Around the world, people recognise this man with a red beard and an earnest look in his eyes. Vincent van Gogh painted about 35 self-portraits in total, most of them in Paris. For him, this was a way of practising portrait painting. His intention was not to portray himself as realistically as possible. He used the Neo-Impressionist style here, with short, rough brushstrokes. These alternate with longer strokes, such as the orange in his beard. The painting has discoloured. The background was originally blue with touches of dark red paint, but the red has become almost completely transparent (@vangoghmuseum ) #vincentvangoghlove #vangogh #ateternitysgate #vincentvangogh #art #arte

  • Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul, but do not distress yourself with imaginings, many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. with all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams it is still a beautiful world. be cheerful. strive to be happy. #positivevibes #vincentvangogh #impressionism

  • A souvenir from Helsinki, Finland. This painting is titled “Street in Auverse-sur-Oise; Village Street; Road at Auvers” by Vincent van Gogh. He composed this in Auverse-sur-Oise in 1890 using oil on canvas. It measures 73.5 x 92.5 cm. This original artwork is being held at the Finnish National Gallery in Helsinki. In May 1890 Van Gogh finally left the asylum at Saint-Remy and traveled north to Paris to see Theo for a few days before moving on to the small community of Auvers-sur-Oise, which would be his home for the remaining few months of his life. It was a rural village full of traditional old farm cottages, many of which were thatched and sat on unpaved dirt roads that wended their wag amongst the buildings. It was spring, Van Gogh's most positive time of year, and on his arrival he was initially taken with the small town describing it as being, 'of grave beauty, the real countryside, characteristic and picturesque'. This was one of several views of the streets of Auvers that Van Gogh pointed, and shows his use of outline to clarify and simplify the various forms. His palette though still bright was marked by a 'muddiness' of tone that resulted in an earthly quality in the colours. He has used areas of flat colour, then enlivened and added texture to the surface through controlled brushwork, particularly evident in the bricks of the wall and the pan-tiled roofs. #painting #palette #palettes #helsingfors #vangogh #oilpainting #canvas #finland #finland🇫🇮 #painters #suomi #vincentvangogh #museum #paintings #gallery #vangoghmuseum #arts #dutch #oiloncanvas #artworks #landscapepainting #landscapepaintings #landscape #painter #paint #landscapes #artist #artists #art #artwork

  • What a neat piece I get the privilege to own. ☺️. Obviously it’s not the OG piece but it’s still a beautiful interpretation of “Irises” by Vincent Van Gogh. “In May 1889, after episodes of self-mutilation and hospitalization, Vincent van Gogh chose to enter an asylum in Saint-Rémy, France. There, in the last year before his death, he created almost 130 paintings. Within the first week, he began Irises, working from nature in the asylum's garden. The cropped composition, divided into broad areas of vivid color with monumental irises overflowing its borders, was probably influenced by the decorative patterning of Japanese woodblock prints. There are no known drawings for this painting; Van Gogh himself considered it a study. His brother Theo quickly recognized its quality and submitted it to the Salon des Indépendants in September 1889, writing Vincent of the exhibition: "[It] strikes the eye from afar. It is a beautiful study full of air and life." Each one of Van Gogh's irises is unique. He carefully studied their movements and shapes to create a variety of curved silhouettes bounded by wavy, twisting, and curling lines. The painting's first owner, French art critic Octave Mirbeau, one of Van Gogh's earliest supporters, wrote: "How well he has understood the exquisite nature of flowers!"” - GETTY MUSEUM. . . . #irises #vincentvangogh #nature #art #gettymuseum #gallery #painting #love #the #artworld #isabeauty

Decisamente bello e scorrevole... Senza nemmeno un minimo di gioia... #good #leggere #vincent #vincentvangogh #book #libri #buonanotte #goodnight
