Cozy home in progress • we aren't sharing much photos of our interior because we're perfectionists and it's still under construction. Swipe to see where it was the same day we left for Baja! There's so much we need to do, still.
We got it to a good enough place that we would be able to live in it for a month. What's great about that timing is that in a month, you get to understand what it's like, and come up with a thousand ideas, for updates or upgrades on how to make it both more comfy and practical. I mean it's a damn small space so every square inch matters.
When we're back in San Francisco, we'll need to finish the ceiling, electricity, the doors (more wood!), the paint (more white!), the outdoor "bathroom", the rear cabinet (/head banger, only we'll make it thinner to avoid that)... and a bunch of other things. Stay tuned for the photos of the results!
There’s just something about being behind this wheel that makes me feel like anything is possible...

Got a few installs with videos done and filmed today. This #westylounge kit is clutch! Really going to enjoy chillin in this. The @venturelibre#westybravo is going to be a game changer in convenience when it comes to needing tools around the van. Videos on each of these soon to come to the #livingthevanlife YouTube channel.

Yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of us giving up our home and taking off in our truck camper for places unknown. In honor of the occasion, I forced myself to finish the first piece on our truck camper renovations this morning. Here is a photo of the brand new interior vs a similar one from last year (swipe left). The article posted today is Part 1 of the series, and focuses on ‘aesthetics renovations.’ I’ll post 3 more on functionality renovations sustainability renovations, and our our favorite things / MVP items.

I’m so happy to finally be back in a remote community away from the big cities I’d been stealth camping/working in up til Xmas. Living remotely allows me to take better care of myself, focus on my personal projects without distraction, get outside in a complete wilderness everyday and ultimately reset. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely for me. #Norway
Hey guys! Still out here in my van. Currently in San Luis Obispo, California making my way down South to start tattooing and possibly settling down for a bit in Santa Barbara. Been going through a massive dip- facing shadows in my life, my health, relationships, my heart. Today I’ve been having some clarity. I feel through every trial more in tune with life’s truths. Leaning into the sadness, the feeling of loneliness, my journal and reflecting on all the little cracks in my soul. Trying to love myself through it all. Tomorrow is the last rainy day for a while. The darkness is ending. It’s time to be reborn. To greater understanding of what I want out of life, myself, my relationships, my friendships. I’m grateful. Tonight I gave myself the gift of a cozy hotel room, a king bed surrounded by Thai food. Thankful for the lessons. Wishing all of you peace and happiness. Thank you for teaching me. Each and every friend, messenger, teacher. I’m grateful. And thank you @van.crush for the feature💛✨🙏👽 @shesjustjaclyn
Krystofiks here getting ready for their next big move! Stay tuned for updates on where you can find us next. We’re not going far but why not move 10 times in your first year of marriage! 😂 Although we weren’t always fond of constantly moving, we do want to throw a shoutout to all the beautiful people that have taken us in for any length of time during this first year for us. Whether it was a few days or several months we could not appreciate the generosity more! .
From the campsites we shared with the “nomadic” people of Kauai to the dorms of @stnpeople and the open road of Maui in this #vanagon to @jackieeeeeeeeeeeeee and Nate’s spare room and several friends couches, @aljohnson2320 - but most of all a big mahalo to the epic roomie/mom you are to us all @karencjacobson 💙
All of you have touched us in unique ways, shaped our marriage for the better, and opened your homes to us when we didn’t really have a physical one. If anything, we have learned to cherish the home we find in being with our friends and know that we now have many homes in so many great places.
Life isn’t always perfect and being on the road isn’t always perfect. Actually right now I wish nothing more than to be back home at my parent’s house in my childhood bed lol. I guess I caught something on the plane and I’ve had a fever and painful cough for the past three days. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this sick but magic is still happening. I’ve randomly met an important animal rights activist at the dog park, had healing conversations with people from my past, talked about the depths and horrors of capitalism and subconscious programming with my best friend Sophia (who is thankfully making me veggie broth, tea and letting me heal on her couch in Oakland). There is still and always so much to be grateful for even when things aren’t going our way. A quote from @gnomad_home recent journal prompt really stuck with me- “Life keeps leading us on journeys we would never go on if it were our choice. Let go of fear. Have faith. Find the lessons. Trust the journey.”
