Benefits of staying with locals is you get all the hot tips in town... e.g. hey 1,299 people are going to do shots off 433 ski’s at the same time, you might want to check it out 🤷🏼♀️🥃🎿 ... oh by the way, this isn’t them, this is just a random couple from Alabama we met on the side of the parade that loved Australians and wanted a photo to send to their one Australian friend #tokenaussie (they were Alabama supporters too so we wanted a photo to send to our one Alabama friend 🤪)
We always find that the best road trips are on the road less travelled. This was taken on our way to Yosemite from Mammoth. As you can tell we’re a big fan of snow-capped mountain ⛰ ranges. .

Bad picture, bad traffic. Bound to hit a snag somewhere along a road trip.
It was still a blast to take the ole pickup out for a spin though. Raise a hand 🖐🏼 in the comments if you drive a 95’ or older pickup truck on your road trips?

Excellent food 🥘, excellent service, excellent people. If you ever make your way to Gatesville, Texas, stop on in. They’ll be waiting to treat you right and fill your belly with good ole southern home cooking 😋.
Spring Heights, West Virginia💚 - The most beautiful place that will always hold a huge place in my heart! Bit of a change for me and pongo from our materialistic life to living with snakes, mice , cockroaches and deer waking us up on a morning !! 🍉🏞🌿🐍 NEVER AGAIN - still pretty tho -
Since my nose doesn't breath since several days 🤧 and the weather outside doesn't improve the situation, I've finally found some time to share a photo of an other elderly person🤗 (joke)
Well, I didn't stalk him intentionally, he was just one of the visitors at the @strandbookstore at 828 Broadway who got in the sight of my camera📸
The store with "18 miles of books" goes back to 1927 as its founder Benjamin Bass, immigrant from Lithuania, took 600$ and opened the first Strand, where he worked and slept at the same time. Nowadays it occupies 3,5 floors and has around 2.5 million books📚📚📚 Sure, I had to go there and 1 hour was nothing! What surprised me most, however, was how much Russian literature was placed on the front tables, among them e.g. "Resurrection" from Leo Tolstoy or short stories by Nikolay Leskov. Idk if this gentleman would take pleasure in Leskov, but I am pretty sure that nobody would line up for him in Russia...🤔🤷♀️ Respect, if there are indeed such highly educated and demanding readers in NYC, I was really moved.
At the same time, in Donna Tartt's "The Goldfinch"🐥 which is considered #1 national bestseller, the protagonist's best friend is a Ukranian boy, who teaches him swearing in Russian and taking drugs tho' he is still a charming and decent guy.
Wouldn't is be cool if once we all could just switch off the mumbling of our TVs and see into the inspired and attentive faces of the people who read Tolstoy in New York and Donna Tartt in Moscow instead?

THIS IS NOT JUST A "DO YOU REMEMBER THIS MOVIE POST; JUST A SEGUE TO A SPECIFIC TRAVEL TOPIC😉
OK, who remembers the American classic movie, Forest Gump that came out July 6, 1994 (nearly 25 years ago🤯)? Who is like me and has seen the movie like a million times? If you're a super youngin and it's before your time, have you caught this 90's favorite flick yet? 🎥🎬
One of my favorite parts of this movie is when Forest spends 3 years, 2 mos., 14 days, and 16 hours running across America. Now that is one great way to see the United States and all its amazing natural formations and man made attractions! 🗺
Now, I know that the OVERWHELMING majority of us are not able to take 3 years, 2 mos., 14 days, and 16 hours off from everyday life. With that said, how cool and eventful would it be to hop in your car, van, fifth wheel, or motor home and just go! How awesome would it be to just head out for an exploration; whether you live in the US or some other great country? Now, of course the bigger the country, the more to see, and therefore more time away you'll need, so some countries may have a little more of an advantage in the time category. For example, we didn't see everything during our 6 day Ireland road trip but we saw a lot! There's still plenty for us to explore at another time, but we definitely could get around to all the great Ireland attractions a lot (A LOOOOTTT) quicker than we could if we decided to road trip all of the US.🚗
I have always wanted to do this! I have always thought it would be so great to route out a road trip and set out on a US discovery adventure and someday I hope to!🌄
POLL TIME: So, what about all of you? Do you have any interest in longterm cross-country travels like this? Could you go until you've hit at least each of the 48 contiguous states or do you think you'd need to section the country off? Maybe in thirds or quarters?
Or, has anyone actually ran a super long distance like Forest did in the movie? I know some people out there have; I've read about 'the real life Forest Gump.' I really want to hear some thoughts on this; I'm super interested! And, if you've done something like this, please share your experience!☺

Despite just finishing a 6,000+ mile drive, we are already ready for another big road trip adventure, but our car on the other hand is enjoying a couple weekends closer to home. 😴 We have sooo many road trip ideas and have no idea how we’re going to choose! If you could road trip anywhere, where would it be? 🚗

One year ago today I was in California watching beautiful sunsets and walking on the beach. Now that my parents no longer live there I don't know when I will return. So I will live vicariously through these lovely photos.
