Oh, how I’ve missed reading! I may be late but I just finished this book in 2 days and it was awesome! (Thank you @angiethomas 🙌🏼) Up next, ‘The Alchemist’ and ‘Becoming Michelle Obama’. Also taking suggestions 📚🤓❤️ #TheHateUGive
Ok so a couple friends recommended this movie and book. Honestly I don’t like it. While I do agree that some racism exists, I don’t think it’s a disease like some people believe it is. And I don’t think it’s something that will ever disappear. I think that the movie causes more hate than anything. Furthermore, I don’t believe that blacks are targeted more than whites, but whites do get away with more things because a larger portion of them can afford better lawyers. So it’s not about race. Also, how hard is it to follow the directions of an officer? In the end it all boils down to respect for authority and taking responsibility for your own actions.
That’s how I was raised
First read of 2019. My sis @sarajawn gifted this book to my daughter 2 Christmases ago & she read in days. After we saw the movie together I wanted to read it...and read it in days too. This story is happening more & more everyday and I worry more & more about my daughter and her friends as they travel through the city. Enough is enough and I wonder when it'll end. #thehateugive#angiethomas#thuglife#booksireadin2019 📚
This book is incredible and a much needed voice to be heard in this country.
Sadly, today in 2019, racism and police brutality still remain in America, which considers themselves to be the most ‘civilized’ country.
Racism is happening on a daily basis against minorities. It is our duty to speak out, to learn, to help one another, and to change this social injustices, even when it is not happening to us personally. .
“Hustle! Pretend the ball is some fried chicken! Bet you’ll stay on it then.”
“I told you guys my grandparents visited, and it was their first time celebrating Thanksgiving, Hailey asked if we ate a cat. Because we’re Chinese.” ——————————————
We live in a world when a black person holding a hair brush could be seen as a weapon. But when white people say racist words? Oh, they are just normal words.
But we can change that.
Swipe to see a few of my favorite quotes from the book.
reposting this edit from a while ago. the hate u give film isn’t out in Australia yet (still about 15 days to go) so I’m thinking about rereading this. It’s truly one of my favourite books ever and so important.
I don’t normally read YA but this was an @oursharedshelf recommendation so I gave it a go. I liked it, but didn’t love it - maybe I don’t know really what to expect from YA. This little blueberry cheesecake was pretty amazing though, thanks to sugardough in Brunswick. #thehateugive#thug#angiethomas#oursharedshelf
What book did you start reading last year that you didn't finish?
I started Six of Crows last year and I did not like it. The overall plot is nice and interesting but Leigh's writing is bad, just too bad. Some bad writing I can manage but I found myself skipping through pages eager for the story to be over.
Needless to say, I did not finish the book and I hate unfinished projects so I am going to be finishing the book. P.S. I want to quickly finish reading this book so I can read T.H.U.G.
P.S. Expect a review when I finally finish the book.
Bonjour à tous et à toutes ! 😄

🍬I used to read a lot of fan fiction and manga, but slowly went into books🍬
It's only Tuesday and I'm already extremely tired 😫 I hope you all are having a magicalLLLL day😁. I'm going to start posting more on my story btw 😄
I have followed @sudspotions for a while and I love their products. .
My name is Kirsten, and I have been in the bookstagram community for a little over 4 years and have been looking to become a rep for one of the amazing creators who develop products that assist in the beauty of our photos.
I'm from the little green Isle of Ireland, where everything is isolated, but where I feel the most free to explore all the world's within the pages of my books.
I have received such great support over the years which has made me love what I do even more, and I aim to improve everyday.
Thank you for the opportunity, good luck for the future.

💕💕💕 GIFT GIVEAWAY!! 💕💕💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every good story begins with the main character standing at the edge of a cliff. Whether they are pushed or jump, the remainder of the story pulls us into a journey where they struggle and experience everything none of us desire to experience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The main character seeks something we can all relate to and in the end, the big question is, do they get what they want to something altogether different. A good book teaches lessons as we move through riveting and stunning life moments with the author. A good fiction, makes us feel the thrill of the science fiction and the awe and wonder of the epic fantasy.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
