...continued...Each time I would slowly come round, my head would raise, my chest would fill itself with Antarctic air and I would start skiing once more because I knew why, the Baton had done its job once again. I would march on telling myself your problems are so insignificant to so many families you know effected by conflict, how is your stopping going to help them versus how is your continuing going to help them. The question would be answered, the feelings in my mind would drift away and be replaced by positive ones.
These feelings would inevitably come back and the above would be repeated. Always in view, always on display. The Baton is not just a symbol but an active mental health recovery tool, it shows you the way if you let it, its part of you, it is your journey, its your memories, its your thoughts it will focus you to do the right thing.
What @alan.rowe.10 MBE started was a simple idea to pass a simple well constructed message but what it has become is a life line to so many people. It has touched the lives of families all over the globe, it is changing the way we think, remember and react to conflict and the issues it creates. It is a community project, led by the community for the community, it is for all walks of life from all nations of our world. If you have not been touched by the Baton then its time to find a place for it in your life, in whatever capacity. It is free, it is honorable, it is simply my best friend.
