Please meet our teacher of the month for November, Ms. Priscilla Alonza! 📓Her favorite part about teaching is conveying new knowledge to students for the first time and watching them understand and make sense of the world around them a little more every day. She says that being there in those moments with them each day is such a blessing.
✈️Ms. Priscilla's favorite project is the current airplane project! The children created an entire airplane by breaking down each part inside and out and used it to play out some of their most enjoyable memories, such as flying on trips with families. They have integrated so many skills from math, language, art, and science into this one project and the possibilites are still endless. 😂The students in her class have taught her to slow down and enjoy the small things. And that it's ok to laugh at your self once in a while. 🎼Her favorite subject to teach is music. She says that the times they spend singing, dancing, and using instruments brings the entire class together in a different way than any other activity can, and that it always ends in laughter and smiles. 👫Working at 9th Bridge has taught her that we are together but not the same. She says that not one child feels, gives, and receives information and love the same as any other child. Each day we are together we learn and grow with and around each other and our lives and lessons are intertwined but incredibly unique. .

Academy Award-winning writer/director Barry Jenkins' first film since the Best Picture Oscar-winning "Moonlight" is If Beale Street Could Talk, his adaptation of James Baldwin's novel - the first English-language feature film based on the work of the author, to whom the movie is dedicated.
Set in early-1970s Harlem, If Beale Street Could Talk is a timeless and moving love story of both a couple's unbreakable bond and the African-American family's empowering embrace, as told through the eyes of 19-year old Tish Rivers (screen newcomer KiKi Layne). A daughter and wife-to-be, Tish vividly recalls the passion, respect and trust that have connected her and her artist fiancé Alonzo Hunt, who goes by the nickname Fonny (Stephan James). Friends since childhood, the devoted couple dream of a future together but their plans are derailed when Fonny is arrested for a crime he did not commit.
Tish knows that Fonny is innocent, and is mindful that his good friend Daniel Carty (Tony and Emmy Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry) has only recently been freed after an unjust incarceration. While Fonny's mother (Aunjanue Ellis) clings to piety and his father (Michael Beach) grapples with feelings of powerlessness, Tish's earthy father Joseph (Colman Domingo) and fierce older sister Ernestine (Teyonah Parris) are unwavering in their support. Even more anxious to clear Fonny's name is Tish's deeply compassionate mother Sharon (Emmy Award winner Regina King), ...
