I had some crazy nightmares last night that really put life in perspective for me this morning.
I woke up today!
I am physically able!
I have a body that is healthy and I’m going to work on treating it better and loving it more.
I have a mind that is capable, that sometimes even amazes me. I’m going to work on feeding it knowledge and positivity.
I have a heart that beats, I’m not going to take my heart for granted today. I’m going to nourish it with kindness and share it with others.
I’m grateful to have woken up this morning along with my family.
Another day with a roof over our heads, food in our refrigerator and a whole day ahead.
We’re not taking any of that for granted today!
I’m putting all this into the universe today and enjoying this day, I hope you all do the same!

Even though I question my sanity every morning when I crawl out of bed at 5:00AM, once I am at the gym sweating my way through a kickass workout, there is no place I’d rather be. 🏋🏼♀️ No matter what is going on in life, for that one hour at the gym, all problems are forgotten and before you know it, you’ve pushed yourself through a workout you weren’t sure you could complete. 😓
The adrenaline rush and the feeling of accomplishment after the workout really is the best feeling. Pushing yourself to become physically stronger makes you mentally stronger. It really is the best therapy 👊🏼💪🏼 #gymlife#crossfit#emeraldpark#goodforthebody#goodforthemind#selflove#selfcare

As we embark on this new journey with a new program and one of the most amazing trainers in the community, I’m nervous to post this but I’m ready to real/ vulnerable with you and so you that YOU can do it too. ⠀
Before joining this community, I would have been embarrassed to post these “before” photos, thinking I should be more lean, have abs, smaller legs, etc. But now I look at these “before” photos and see a strong, confident, and fiery woman ready to tackle these goals I’ve set for 2019. ⠀
I used to follow so many fitness people and always thought I should look like those woman. I was so wrong! I should be ME and that’s whatever my body is capable of achieving. ⠀

“You have a strong uterus” -my doula said after breathing my baby out in the back in a NYC #Taxi.
Maybe I do or maybe it was the gallons (not joking) of Red Raspberry Leaf tea I was drinking in the final weeks of pregnancy.
It did everything it said it would:
✔️Strengthened my uterine wall ✔️Made contractions more effective ✔️Which led to a shorter labour (9hrs)
✔️Reduced interventions and complications in child birth - (I was in a cab so that wasn’t going to happen anyway) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is it a magic potion that is going to work for every woman. Probably not. But as I said when I started drinking it, it can’t hurt to try. It’s loaded with vitamins C, E, and A, a variety of B vitamins, magnesium, potassium, calcium, and phosphorus, so at the very least I was getting those in my system.
It’s recommended to drink 1 cup a day in your first trimester and 4-5 cups in your third trimester. I literally made a gallon of tea every 1-2 days (iced as it was summer) and sipped it throughout the day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yesterday, CSE alum Laurie Krauss brought Cooper, an adorable therapy dog, to campus! Cooper helped our students with the transition from a relaxing vacation into challenging school work. 🐾

Does anyone remember trustfalls from childhood? I do. They were both terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. But the wave of relief that washes over when we realize we’ve been caught is beautiful. What is your passion? What if you could trustfall into it!? Every self-help book out there tells us to follow our passion and find a way to make it work because, “if you work doing something you love, you will never feel like you’re working a day in your life.” I think when we lean into what we truly love, give it our all, and trust that it will hold us one way or another (whether it is emotionally, financially, or it simply causes us a great amount of joy and helps us balance out other areas of our life, etc) we begin to vibrate at a frequency that attracts more and more of that level of love and passion into our life.
I know I can relate to following a path that feels good, just to be surprised at every turn with four more opportunities just waiting. Because I’m following what I love. And I am attracting more of the same. Like attracts like.
If we believe (and say to ourselves) “I would love to do that, but it just isn’t an option” well then you are speaking that truth into existence. Of course it takes a leap of faith to follow something that you can’t predict the ending to. But the rewards that flood in when you show up for yourself at this frequency is contagious. And you won’t want to stop. 🙏🏼💕✨🌈💙🌿🌊⭐️
@Fabletics haul... ok so I really love the teal pants..however the grey ones are a work out at home only pair they REALLY REALLY show sweat and in the crotch so embarrassing when at the gym! Yep never wearing them to the gym again! The tops are a bit loose but breathable

I first became especially aware of the power of scent when I was going through a really tough time at University. There was, I remember, a beautiful jasmine bush just outside the back door of the student house where I was living, and I just couldn’t get enough of her beautiful perfume. The scent lifted me, soothed my ruffled feathers, and gave me glimmers of hope in what could seem like a very dark world.

A lot of you have reached out thanking me for the opportunity, and I just wanted to let you all know why I did it.
The last two years, I was very bad at self-care. In fact, I had no self-care. I was on the go, 100mph an hour. I did not have a healthy work life, and I let my wellness suffer because of this.
The last 5 months I spent more time with the most wonderful woman who taught me about healing myself, looking after myself and putting myself first. This has helped changed my mindset like you wouldn’t believe. So, I changed my life.
Instead of dreading waking up, I know look forward to it. I want to wake up. I want to experience the day. Instead of having a Sunday meltdown for the work well, I look forward to it. I get excited again. I spent so long putting everyone else first that I let my happiness go.
Now, with my new self-care routine, I still put others very high up my list, but I am first. My kiddos have BENEFITED from me having this new mindset and outlook. My family life is wonderful. But most of all, me, I am doing fantastic. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been.

I’ve been a hairstylist for over 13 years. I could stop there & it would make sense why the muscles in my neck & shoulders are so tight that they pull the vertebrae of my neck out of alignment. But there’s more: I’ve picked up lots of heavy things & set them down -> lifting weights & emotionally speaking.... I’ve climbed lots of mountains -> rock climbing & again with the emotions.... Since having @thraaash step into partnership with me the way he has: sharing responsibilities, supporting & encouraging me, creating a safe space, being so grounded.... He has provided me the opportunity to nurture myself. I’m landing in this space of tuning in like never before to my physical & emotional body’s need for rest to recover. Thank you for enabling me to have the space & time to nourish in this way ♥️

In less than 4 weeks I'll be in Florida co-hosting a retreat for women who want to cultivate more love in their life, from the inside out!
Do you watch Top Chef? I just watched the restaurant wars challenge last night (stick with me, it connects! ) and I watched a group of really great chefs tank because they had done really well in the past so they thought the win was guaranteed. I do this with self care- "I know this stuff, I get it, I heard Brene talk about it, I'm good" Without putting self care habits and habits of self-compassion into regular practice I tank too. I make breakfast for the kids AND myself instead of feeding them and scrounging for trail mix in the car later. I go to sleep for Future Harper so I'm not foggy when I need to be there for my Dad as he moves to a new memory care home. I sit down at the page for 20 minutes so that I am the one who knows best what's going on in my head and I am aware of what emotions are passing through instead of unloading on my husband and kids later. All the regular practices add up.

Before and after. I never liked having full body pictures taken of me. I was comfortable in my skin, but I also wasn't, as confusing as that may sound. I would tell myself that I carried well and I didn't really look like the few pictures I did see of myself. Looking back I wish I had taken control of my health and fitness sooner. But I'm doing it now. I'm showing my girls a better path of life, and what self love is. And it's not just about fitness either, I've been working on the inside as well. Learning to let go, and to really think things through on how they make me feel. I'm learning to put myself first and that it's ok to do that in order to care for those around me. 🖤😊
