  • { December 11th 2018 } #bookreview #bookishsolacereviews #bookstagram title: the winter witch author: paula brackston genre: fantasy, historical fiction my rating: 5/5 . . . my review: I was so excited to get into this witchy tale and was immediately drawn in by her writing; in my opinion, the author is a very gifted writer. I couldn’t help but basically read this book in two settings, it delivers the right amount of witching lore without being too far-fetched and a beautiful historical lush setting. Morgana doesn’t talk. She hasn’t uttered a word since her dad died, making it particularly hard to find a suitable husband for her. Her mother, however, is desperate to arrange a marriage, even if it means she will never see her again. She is forced to marry Cai, the drover, who has his own herds of cattle and ponies. Naturally, Morgana is frightened and just longs for the wild meadows of her home and definitely does not need the help of a man to get around. She is surprised to find him gentle, patient, and tender, nevertheless, she cannot keep the secret that she carries in her heart for very long… I love how Brackston’s female lead characters are all so strong-willed and don’t shy away from hard work. Morgana is no exception, she is impressing independent and can fend for herself very well. Even though she speaks no word, she is a very strong, well-rounded character and has become my favourite in this novel. She is wild, witty, and free and don’t we all want to be like that? The author has a way with her words that makes you almost feel as though you are one with this story like you could smell the flowers or feel the sunshine on your shine. I found myself standing right next to the characters, listening to their conversations and taking walks with them through the Welsh valleys. I especially appreciated the changes between the first-person point of view of Morgana and the third-person point of view of Cai, however, I have to admit, I found the story a bit too romantic at the end. This book is the perfect mix of history and magic, I can recommend it to everyone who is craving for a fantasy/historic setting.

  • Do you have favorite movie tie-in book cover edition? Well it's the first time i had it, i got it from book fair, it just got my attention back then, and really can't wait to read it and continue to watch the adaptation ! . Lately i have watched some period dramas like madame Bovary, Lady Chatterley's lover, Anna Karenina, and all the stories are about the women who were cheating 😞. Honestly i don't like the idea of such a story though, but who knows there are reasons i should read the book at first, because the movies sometimes only manipulate the story, if you have read one of them let me know Dear Friends, perhaps you can assure me to read them if i got them wrong 🙈. Like always have a good day 💛.

  • Thank you to @neweroticaforfeminists for the free copy! This is the book I never knew I needed in my life until I read it. NEW EROTICA FOR FEMINISTS is a satirical spin on the things that turn feminists on (i.e. equal pay, duh), and it was hysterical. It’s split into several different sections (New Workplace Erotica for Feminists, New Pop Culture Erotica for Feminists, etc.), but of course being the booknerd that I am, my favorite was New Literary Erotica for Feminists (there’s a great vignette about Romeo & Juliet…all I will say is FINALLY SOMEBODY SAID IT). Even though the scenarios described are incredibly funny, this book is rooted in truth: as a woman, it would be a dream come true if we could get to the level of gender equality depicted in this book. It may be a satire, but it’s definitely not far off from what most women truly wish we had. Needless to say, do yourself a favor and pick up this book. You won’t regret it!

  • I finished Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas tonight! Review below⬇️ CR: Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo • • • • KOA Review: Ok, so this is the biggest book I have in my collection. About 960 pages long. About. And I read it in about 2 weeks with school and other priorities. I don’t think there are any emotions to explain how I’m feeling right now. Aelin, I’m sorry how Maeve treated you, but I’m happy it worked out. In my life, I have not once cried over a book. I’ve been sad, but I usually transfer sadness to anger and scream at the characters through the pages. Kingdom of Ash broke me, as the last chapter broke me, and tears formed in my eyes. To say goodbye to these characters.... it’s a struggle. Not only for the characters to say goodbye to each other, but for me to say goodbye to these characters, these books, which I have grown to love. All this sadness might make it sound like a bad book. It is no where near that. I was sad, angry, elated, and proud while reading this, along with many others. If you read these books, you won’t regret it. I’ve spent two years of my life with these books, and it’s hard to say farewell to these characters. So taking the new seat as my favorite book of all time, as well as my favorite series of all time. As I end with what has become my motto. I will love you Throne of Glass. To Whatever End. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 #reader #reading #fantasy #books #novels #throneofglass #kingdomofash #sarahjmaas #aelingalathynius #rowanwhitethorn #myfavoritebook #bookreview #fantasybookreview #sobbing

  • I gave this book 4/5 stars. For anybody wanting to start a business I suggest starting with this book and for those who are already running a business it would also be essential to read this. The book allows you to think about the different roles in a business and how to run your business to allow it to scale and to ensure that you do not become the heart and soul of your business. I will definitely be rereading this book as my business grows.

  • “I love you. I love you. I love you.” - Cassandra Clare, Queen of Air and Darkness 📚 . Finished this bad boy a few days ago, after madly dashing to Barnes & Noble the day it came out! Can’t believe The Dark Artifices trilogy is finally over... Emma and Jules, my heart goes with you. While I did have some qualms about this final installment (I’ll give a few specific, spoiler-y thoughts below), I’m forever a sucker for the Shadowhunter universe. 📚 . Spoiler-y thoughts: Things I loved: - Kit and Ty!!!! Their plotline in this story was both incredibly heartbreaking and adorable. Can’t wait to see more of them in The Wicked Powers! - Kierarktina being canon! We stan a healthy polyamorous relationship (though I will admit the Kieran/Cristina side still feels a bit rushed to me). - The beautiful depiction of grief in all its forms. - Dru!! What a badass little bean. Things I was 😕 about: - The use of Mark’s character. After his fantastic intro in the Mortal Instruments, I was so excited to see what role he would play in the conflict with anti-faerie sentiment in the Clave, and he ended up having almost no narrative importance outside his romantic relationships. - How the parabatai curse was resolved. Too quick, too easy. - Thule. I found it jarring, fanservice-y, and too long to be away from our other characters. - Speaking of too long... this whole book was too long. It needed some heavy editing. I prefer my books snappy. 📚 . #bookstagram #queenofairanddarkness #qoaad #cassandraclare #book #bookworm #bookish #bookaholic #bookquotes #bookphotography #yalit #reading #reader #rainbow #shadowhunters #thedarkartifices #bookreview

#lectura #romance #amor #historias #leer #leyendoasombrososlibros #librosyalgomas #libros #escritos #novelas #wattpad #booklover #bibliofilia #bookstagram #reader #krisbuendia #cdecenicienta

  • 📚Book Review! ⭐⭐⭐ So I picked this book out at a library sale, not knowing what it was about. It caught my eye because of the review from Stephen King on the title: ". . . one of the premier horror writers of his or any generation." I also liked the cover art and the name of the book. • • This book is broken up into four different short stories according to the seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. There's a story about an obsessed lover who becomes a killer, a child who eliminates her mother's lovers with storms, a group of people trapped in a Post Office that get picked off one by one, and a dark figure that stalks a stressed woman and gets rid of what makes her unhappy. They're creepy short reads that I enjoyed, but were pretty predictable. I still had fun with it, though. 3/5 stars.

  • 📚Book Review! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I honestly LOVED this novel. An amazing fantasy tale full of murder, sibling rivalry, jealousy, loyalty, betrayal, and much more. Anyone who knows me personally knows I am a huge Stephen King fan, and with that being said, The Eyes of The Dragon is definitely one of my favorite novels of his. King writes mostly of horror and supernatural, but he is amazing at fantasy too. I also love how this novel has a connection to The Dark Tower Series and The Stand because of the main villain and other little hints, although this novel stands on its own. I'd definitely recommend this novel to any fantasy or Stephen King fan. 5/5 stars.

  • 📚Book Review! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Fantasy was always only a reality waiting to be switched on." NOS4A2 by Joe Hill puts a unique twist on vampires in a Christmas setting. No, you dont need to wait until Christmas-time to explore this novel because in NOS4A2 it's Christmas all year round! I feel Joe Hill really captured horror, imagination, childhood and adult struggles, the supernatural, and more all in one novel. Definitely a page turner and I was even left slightly disappointed there wasn't more. Overall, I definitely recommend this book if you love supernatural thrillers. 4/5 stars.
