  • Super late posting this, but New Year's day I had the pleasure of training with @jrstein18 and had a blast. I came in thinking we were gonna do front squats, but then ended up doing everything but back squats only because Jason felt like his movements were off. This session made me decide two things: I really would like to start working with a coach and I need to start keeping snacks in my gym bag 😂 I was really impressed that Jason even had pointers to give me on my deadlift. My deadlift is, in my opinion, my best lift and I always get complemented on my good deadlift form. At least, conventional anyways. We're not gonna talk about sumo 😂 but that really just goes to show that no matter how good you are, or how good you THINK you are, you always have room for improvement. It's important to have people in your life who are gonna build you up and help you grow.

  • Trying really hard to remind myself that not everyday will be a good day. I really wanted at least 10 reps for this AMRAP, but I got 6 🤷 the set before this one had me worried about angering my SI joint, so I decided not to push it. Did some accessory work that didn't put too much pressure on my back, then did some stability/mobility/rehab work. Not gonna lie, I was feeling pretty discouraged after my squats, but I felt a little better when I went to do my rehab work and I noticed things moving better. Just trying to take it one day at a time and remind myself that my squats are gonna be super freaking awesome when I'm finally all better 😭😭

  • I had a whopping 45 minutes in between getting to the gym after dropping my daughter off at school and when my first client came in. I was trying to decide between making up the bench workout I missed Wednesday because I was home with a sick kid or getting some core stability work. I decided I could do the stability work during my rest in between sets. I did that a lot when I first started incorporating stability work because I always forgot to do it so I would do my first set and be like "crap! I have to do this other stuff too!" Eventually, I started doing the stability work in the mornings before my clients started coming in and then I would do my actual workout in the evening. Here lately though, I just haven't had that same time in the mornings, so it ends up not getting done. #oops . . . For stability I did dead bugs (second video), cat camels, and bird dogs. I normally like to do this weird thing I call "giving a stability ball a lap dance" but there were no stability balls available. I'll totally record myself doing it one day so y'all can see what I'm talking about 😂😂 . . . Like I said, I had 45 minutes, so I didn't get through like any accessory work aside from my boring but big sets, but hey, sometimes life is out of your control and you just have to roll with it.

  • Hey look, @trenasaurus.rex.eod I did the right number of reps this time 😂😂😂 first set and twelfth set shown. The box was higher than I wanted, but it was the lowest one they had so 🤷 . . . I used to be really intimidated by working out with people who are "better" than me (stronger, more knowledgeable, better endurance, etc) but now I see it as a wonderful opportunity for growth. Last weekend, I went out to Hickory, NC. I decided to reach out to @jrstein18 and meet up with him. We got in a workout together and he helped me out a TON with my OHP. He also sat there quietly while I died doing way too many paused box squats because I clearly don't know how to read, but that's besides the point. OHP felt a lot better than last week and definitely a lot better than what I was doing before 😂😭 . . . Special appearances made by my overgrown cat human child thing.

  • I was supposed to stay tight and explode up. I can do better next time. I WILL do better next time. Squats are so hard because my exercise induced asthma comes in and goes "HEY I'M HERE PAY ATTENTION TO ME!" and my focus turns from keeping my form in check to just trying to breathe. What I NEED to do is tell myself it's okay if I need to take a little bit longer in between reps. Better to take longer and be able to focus more on my form and not so much just trying to breathe than to try and rush through it and end up injured.

  • Definitely not the deadlift day I was hoping for or expecting. I was hoping for 265x1, expecting 260x1, but ended up getting 255x1. Next weekend will be better though because I'll have coffee and more sleep 💪 even though it didn't go the way I wanted it to, I'm still gonna dedicate this deadlift session to @victoryfitness28 who got me into fitness in the first place and @gbrandt91 who inspired me to start powerlifting before I even knew that powerlifting was a thing or what it was. I definitely could've had both of those singles, but I felt like it would've been too much of a grinder being a week out from a meet, so I decided to conserve my energy and save it for the platform. So I just kept dropping 5lbs until I found a weight that felt like a good opener, not a max effort lift. After busting my tail these past 6 weeks, I'm soooo looking forward to deloading next week.

  • Dedicating this squat PR to the two beautiful ladies who have helped me improve my squat in the last 6 months. @bee_mcdee basically picked my squat form apart and rebuilt it before my last meet and @deadlifts_and_oreos helped me not divebomb my squats anymore. I'm also very thankful for the @powerliftingmotivation group on Facebook where so many other knowledgeable people have helped me along the way ❤️❤️ Today's squat was 205lbs. I'm also reposting my 3rd squat attempt from my meet back in April which was 92.5kg (203.9lbs). With how good 205 felt today, I think I'll open with 92.5kg next weekend. Last but not least, I'm also sharing some pics I snapped of my beautiful, powerful legs because fat pockets and cellulite don't make me any less valuable ❤️❤️ @ladieslifthere @girlswhopowerlift @thegirlsgonestrong @girlswholiftthings
