As a stranger
You will get plenty stares
From unfamiliar faces
Some of Amazement
Some of worry
Some of curiosity
It is a black water creek
A contrast of lives in the city and where they are
The stranger unfamiliar face
Makoko, Lagos, Nigeria
I am everywhere. You can find me at the side of the road, in our rivers, in the savannah or even at the beach. I can be big or small. But the truth is, there is only one place that I should be! ~
That's right. I am LITTER.
The act of littering means to discard objects such as aluminium cans, animal and human waste, cardboard boxes, cigarette butts, glass or plastic bottles, and other forms of garbage on the ground. In most cases, these objects are left there indefinitely.
Are you aware of the human impact littering has on our environment in T&T?
The next time you decide to drop a plastic bag or a bottle in a undesignated area, take a moment to think. Think about the marine ecosystem and how it is affected by our actions. Consider that we are responsible for the blocked waterways which lead to flooding, and in turn can facilitate the spreading of diseases.
Let’s do our part to make a difference. Make an effort to recycle or properly dispose of your waste! Remember, #CleanerMeCleanerWe
