False: I work out 5x a week.💪🏼
Fact: I stay active through out the week. Go for a hike & move a often. I lift weights 2-3x a week & do a couple hours of Kundalini Yoga.🧘🏼♀️
Myth: I always eat clean & never eat processed foods.🌿
Truth: I am mindful of what I eat, am sure to get my vegetables & greens in daily. Totes enjoy a bowl of Captain Crunch cereal & love chocolate cake!🍩

Truth: I have my ups & downs. I believe in the power of perspective & positivity. I’ve gotten better at recognizing my down times & knowing when I need to rest.🙏🏼

Health isn’t just physical. Health is emotional, psychological, spiritual. .
You can eat all the right things 🥦, you can exercise 🏃🏼♀️, you can take your vitamins 💊 and go to the doctor 👩⚕️- but if you don’t DEAL with the things causing you distress, you’re never going to achieve the mental health you’re searching for.
Outside of that -HEALTH CULTURE- is often diet culture in disguise. And we all know how I feel about #dietculture. 🤮

This kind of stuff has never been easy for me. I tried to do crunches, bicycles, sit ups, etc. For years with no positive results and lots of negative results (pain). I figured out I wasn't using my body correctly during these exercises and I was trying to do too much movement while unengaged which was causing me to wear out my other body parts that were compensating. So now whenever I am asked to do floor work (lets be real I only do it when someone else makes me. I loathe this shit) I almost always stay static in this pose, breathing and engaging my core. And it's hard. Harder than any of the other things I do. 🧘

If the economy goes to 💩 and construction gets shut down, I think Brett should explore an alternative career as a doula 🙃 because he was the best partner/coach during labor and childbirth I could imagine. <>
While I labored at home cuddling with my dogs, he mowed the lawn, cleaned the house, packed his & my hospital bag and made sure to include snacks, my camera, phone charger, baby clothes, cloth diapers, and hard copies of our birth plan. .
He stayed alert and breathe w/me through every single contraction, even if it meant he sacrificed sleep, dinner, and the collar of his t-shirt from my grip. He was my voice when my annoying nurse kept asking me questions mid-contractions 🙄. His were the only words of encouragement that helped me cross the finish line when I was exhausted. And lastly, he reminded my midwife to delay clamping before he agreed to cut the cord bc that was my wish. 👏👏👏 Freakin #champ
A quick breakfast recipe!
Blueberry Baked Oats
The ideal breakfast recipe for all of those on-the-go families! Bake the night before or on Sunday and be prepared for the week ahead - because you don't want to skip the most important meal of the day!
Oats are rich in fiber and beta-glucan, helping to cleanse and support your digestive system while also naturally supporting healthy cholesterol levels. They provide a source of manganese, selenium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc and antioxidants!
• 2 cups oats
• 1 tsp cinnamon
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
• ½ cup chopped nuts & seeds
• 2 tbsp coconut oil
• 1 egg
• 1 cup almond or coconut milk
• ¼ cup maple syrup
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
2. In one bowl, mix together dry mixture of oats, nuts, seeds, baking powder, spices & add in melted coconut oil & blueberries.
3. In another bowl, mix together egg, milk, maple syrup & whisk to combine.
4. Pour oat mixture into a baking dish and pour wet mixture over top.
5. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown
6. Serve with some more blueberries and yogurt or on its own!

Despite being deeply in nesting mode, I’m also deeply in travel planning for the year! There’s just something about January that feels so full of possibility. I’ll be traveling to Charleston, SC; London; Portland, OR and my hometown of Honolulu, HI.
