I had this sketch stored in the archives for days now bc haven't figured out how I wanted the concept to go but I recently got hit by a little artblock (not massive, it's just that I felt like my watercolor skills have been stagnant because it's been a while since I did a watercolor piece) and so I made this
He initially had many different heads attached to him BUT, that's for another concept (the composition didn't fit that idea so here) this was greatly inspired by the sci-fi horror movies I was watching lately (ie. The Thing, Slither, The Mist) and yeeeeeet sksksjsj tell me what you guys think of this one! The speedpaint might come tomorrow same time as well hoho
I am two! 💭
Thoughtful post time.. 2 years ago today I took this photo. 2 years ago my parents did the most amazing thing for me and converted their double garage to become my studio. Me and my mum painted these walls. Can you believe the plan wasn’t even to have the “made by Leah” on the back wall?! It just had to happen.
I’d given up university and decided to go for this full time (signed up to HMRC and everything- proper stuff!). The more I think about it the more I think I went into this very naive as I had no idea about business, I just knew I wanted to follow my passion and be happy at work.
I’ve always had the mindset of supporting small and loving the idea of being self employed, but two years ago when this photo was taken I had NO IDEA I’d be where I am today. Being naive was probably the best part about it because I went in and gave it my all.
I’ve loved every single second. Genuinely. I’ve grown in more ways than I thought possible and this studio has become my little creative home. It’s hosted an open studio, seen me stand on all the tables to get good photos, held all my stock and been the backdrop to some amazing filming days. My five year plans have been smashed in these two years and I have many many more plans to come. I have to say, this space looks a lot more full and lived in now than it did back then. I do sometimes wonder how many hours I’ve spent at these tables.
Thank you all for letting me live my dream and thank you to my little made by Leah studio for inspiring me to make it happen..
2 today. Here’s to the next ✨
