I made this painting months ago back in July when I first started art as a full time career. I was kind of just experimenting on this piece of wood but I felt so much pressure to create something amazing and wasn’t really giving myself room to just play so I ended up removing all the paint when I was done and essentially destroyed it.
As I look at this pic now, months later, i think to myself, that’s a pretty painting and I like it..literally as if it’s a different person looking at it with a diff pair of eyes. But I’m the same person just in a different space, context and perhaps a shifted perspective.
I’ve learned over the last few months not to put myself down even when the output isn’t as great as I had hoped (still practicing). I’ve also realized every piece of art is part of your story and is a step closer to your destiny. You don’t have to love and share everything you create, but give yourself the room to feel free and not judged but our harshest critics, ourselves.
I wish I had this piece now cuz it reminds me of he uncertainty I felt, the first chapter of my art journey and my struggles that I’ve persevered through 💙

These two small paintings were sold at the under 100 art show last weekend 🤗
It was my first time not being present the whole time at a show where my art was being sold. Felt kinda weird not knowing who bought them cuz I normally love meeting my customers...but while I was there, I did get to meet some of the ppl who bought my art..it was so exciting to approach those who were carrying around my work and introduce myself..I appreciate every single one of you ❤️❤️❤️
