How to prepare
For the rice:
If you don’t know how to cook rice please look it up on the web, I’m not going to be covering something that basic. Just remember to squirt some lime on it and chopped cilantro is optional
Season with 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp black pepper. Fry or bake up to you. (Frying i more calories)

Weight loss vs. muscle gain protein shake ideas! 🥤 *Swipe to see 2 more!* Which combo is your fav?
I often get asked “is a protein shake a good idea from someone who wants to lose weight?”. My answer to that is yes, because a shake can be an easy & convenient way to get in more protein and have a healthy snack.
Now, you don’t have to get a protein powder if you don’t want to. You could also use Greek yogurt like I did in the 3rd shake example. However, I love a good chocolate protein powder because it satisfies my sweet tooth while still being a healthy option!
My current favorite protein powders are @atp_labs whey protein and @vega_team performance protein - both healthy and clean options. Below is the breakdown of the macros for each shake - remember to add water, ice and stevia as needed:
🥜 PB&J shake weight loss - 261 cals, 38g protein, 30g carbs, 4.5g fat.
. 🥜 PB&J shake muscle gain - 501 cals, 41g protein, 54g carbs, 18.5g fat.
🍫 Mocha shake weight loss - 224 cals, 25.5g protein, 9.8g carbs, 9.2g fat.
🍫 Mocha shake muscle gain - 459 cals, 32g protein, 45g carbs, 18.2g fat
🌴 Tropical shake weight loss (I added stevia too) - 202 cals, 15g protein, 23g carbs, 6.6g fat.
🌴 Tropical shake muscle gain (I added stevia too) - 456 cals, 31g protein, 50g carbs, 17g fat.
Reminder, these are just examples but you can make anything in between. Sometimes 1 scoop protein with water & ice is all I need for a low calorie snack!

Plant Based Foods That Fight Bloating
Bloating can happen for a number of reasons, and some might be as obvious as you might assume.
Hormones, stress, digestion problems, food sensitivities, eating too much fiber at one time, or even eating large meals can all cause bloating.
Whatever the case, certain foods (some drinks included) can combat bloating and help you gain relief quickly.
Eliminating salty foods, processed foods, foods with added sugar, and drinking plenty of water should be the first things you do to combat bloating.
Sugar and salt cause the body to hold onto water, so removing them is key to combat bloating more than anything else.
Last but not least, Water will help flush out toxins that cause bloat and will actually help relieve water weight via the kidneys.
Feeling bloated ? Of course you want to identify what causes you to bloat to try to prevent it in the first place. But here’s a stretch you can do while bloated to help bring you relief!
It’s called the Twist. Also known in yoga as Supta Matsyendrasana.
When you are actively in your twist, you are wringing out your digestive system, just as you would a wet towel.
This movement can help expel wastes, move food and waste along your digestive system, and generally stimulate waste removal and help relieve bloating. When you release your twist, fresh blood—and therefore fresh oxygen and nutrients—can rush back into your digestive organs, helping nourish and support them.
Starting on your back, keep your legs straight in front of you. Bend one leg then draw and cross it over your body. Keep both shoulders grounded. Switch sides by laying your head at the opposite side of the couch.

These 5-ingredient Cashew Butter Cookie Dough Balls are coming in handy for that post dinner sweet tooth 🍬One of my favorite recipes- plus they're vegan & gluten free!
1 cup @georgiagrinders cashew butter (add 1/8 tsp salt if the cashew butter is unsalted)
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup @bobsredmill almond flour
1/2 tspn @frontiercoop vanilla extract
1/4 cup @enjoylifefoods chocolate chips
Mix together the cashew butter, vanilla & maple syrup. Add in the almond flour and chocolate chips and stir until well combined. Roll into balls and let set in freezer for at least 30 minutes. Can be stored in fridge or freezer.
Part of the dietetics program is to work on your culinary skills. As one of my teachers once said: "you won't accomplish anything unless you find a way to put the food in your patient's mouth ". That truly resonated with me because your patients cannot get better if they refuse to eat the food because they don't enjoy it. That's why you cannnot just tell someone to eat broccoli. You have to find a way to prepare the food so that it's appealing and delicious.
Another part of my job is to show people that balance is key and to help them restore or maintain a healthy relationship with food. This delicious cake was made as part of my final evaluation for a food science class. It was very indulgent and oh so delicious 😍 It was so fun to taste everyone's recipes and they all whipped up something delicious ❤

👀 Check out this post that shows the role that calories play in our weight management journeys. Here are two meals with (basically) the same ingredients, varying in quantity, yielding opposite results. This makes total sense. Calorie intake plays a huge role in meeting your weight loss or weight gain goals. This photo illustrates that you don’t have to deprive yourself of good, nutritional food to lose weight. Counting calories is how I lost weight. I wish I had seen this post back then. In 2012, I reduced my calorie intake by removing all starchy carbs. Little did I know that I could still enjoy them, but in moderation, as in this photo. White rice? I gasped at it. But now I’m pretty sure both these meals will leave you feeling pretty satisfied without any guilt. 💥 So remember it’s not about deprivation, it’s about moderation 💯! 🦄 @Curly_Girl_Jess •

On the weight loss side is a much smaller version of sausage and it is turkey sausage instead of the pork/beef on the weight gain side which makes it much lower in fat and saves a boat load of calories. The rice, beans, and carrots contribute to the majority of the carbs in this meal. I like using sausage because it has a very overpowering flavor that helps to mask the carrots and broccoli. Plus rice, beans, and sausage is an incredible combo. .
On the weight gain side there is about 2x the rice and sausage. As stated earlier, the sausage is a beef/pork sausage instead of turkey. It is a fattier sausage and you can get a lot of flavor in this small dish by using a regular kielbasa sausage instead of turkey.

If I told you how often I work abs you wouldn’t believe me. There’s no secret to getting abs. It’s simple, eating very clean & well portioned meals produce abs. Stop 🛑 working hard crunching your life away. I’m not saying working your abs is useless. They are great for tightening. However, if you have large amounts of belly fat you’re better off using that energy to get your cardio game up and eating clean.
Clean vs Healthy
A salad 🥗 is healthy. (If you don’t put all the extra crap on it) 😑 Eating a salad is making a better food choice. For example choosing a salad over pizza. Lean & clean foods 🥘 gets results. It’s lean because the meat does not contain large amounts of fat. It’s clean because there nothing dripping, no gravy is involved. The picture above is what lean & clean looks like. Many times it takes literally EVERYTHING in you, not to indulge in something different ESPECIALLY around the holidays. You know what I say to that? Hola amiguitos el día de hoy le comparto una receta navideña🎄🎇super deliciosa es una de mis favoritas y es ideal para compartirla con toda la familia👫👬👭👫 TE ASEGURA QUE LES ENCANTARA🙋😋
Los ingredientes que necesitas son:
✅2 rebanadas de pan integral🍘
✅1/4 tza de leche descremada🍶
✅1 cda de canela molida🍥
✅1 cdita de mantequilla🍥
Para rellenar yo utilice:
✅3 cda de yogurt griego s/azúcar🍶
✅5 gr de arándanos del bosque🌰
Para decorar mi platillo utilice:
✅1 cda de yogurt griego s/azúcar🍶
✅½ pza de plátano en rebanadas🍌
✅1 cdita de canela🍥
▫En un bolw agrega la leche y canela revuelve todo perfectamente hasta que no quede ningún grumo.
▫En una sartén a fuego medio alto coloca la mantequilla y distribuye perfectamente.
▫Una vez teniendo tu mezcla sumerge cada rebanada de pan y colócalas en la sartén deja cocinar por 4 minutos🕧 y después voltea y así sucesivamente con cada uno de los panes.
▫Una vez cocidos tus panes con ayuda de una cuchara aplana perfectamente hasta que quede como una especie de tortilla, posteriormente añade el yogurt, los arándanos y enrolla.
▫Y asi con cada uno de tus panes.
