Sometimes, writing feels like the most daunting task imaginable. Sometimes, climbing a mounting seems like an easier task.
Am I being dramatic? Certainly.
Does that make sitting in chair and writing easier? No.
The thing about a mountain is that it has a top. Your book has an end too. Work on it a little each day, and someday you’ll get there. #writingtips#wednesdaymotivation
Today I took a day from the library and drafting to deal with some plot questions I was getting stuck on. Sometimes a day of reflecting can do more for the book than grinding the gears. Here’s to medicinal coffee breaks! (And mornings spent under a pile of cats) 😺 #slpnovelyear
"Good, good," I concluded the med talk, "let's finish the rest of this hallway while we are warmed up. Remember to use the fucking shields people. Some of your cuts wouldn't be there if you were doing it right. Now let the pain remind you next time. It's important." Grace ripped the drapes down and her and Dick covered the little girls tormented corpse. I thought about being raised in such a fucking alien society. One couldn't help where they were born you knew and it reminded you of Christianity. If Christianity was a death could there would be a lot of bloody zealots running around that was for fucking sure I decided. my grieving mind swam. One was supposed to be saved to go to heaven. But what if they were born a Hindu or a plethora of other religions or even the poor little girl cult. They wouldn't to be saved because they merely were born somewhere else, I had always wondered and thought to it then. I packed up and left the room still needing speed to reach downstairs before more men died. I knew my pikemen troops needed a crack at it.
The rest of the main hall was a wash when we reached the back stairs. Though I saw a dusty set, but unused chess set. I quickly through it in my Alice Pack. Grace and Dick looked at me like I were a fucking thief or something in this nightmare hotel where the owner was already eaten by these damn savages. The set made me think of Alberto, the wise old black man and the intelligent man's skill. You realized in that moment that the old man knew he would die at the hands of the sextraders and decided both to make a stand for the girls and to finally meet his beloved wife in the afterlife. A somber smile lit my lips in memory of one of the smartest men I have ever known.

What’s your favorite spot you’ve ever traveled to?
I haven’t traveled much, though it’s definitely part of my bucket list to do so!
This is one of my favorite spots, though: Malibu, CA!
My lifelong lesson from one of the masters: learning how to remain calm. (It’s such an important quote to me that I’ve put it in the front of my bulletjournal.) .
Being calm is the key to staying in your chair when attempting to write (or any creative endeavor), refusing to listen to all the internal criticisms and perceived external judgements, refusing to cave into fear or shame.
Being calm is key to having better relationships, not constantly overreacting to every perceived slight, unable to regulate emotions, unable to manage anger and letting resentment build and seethe within, constantly wishing you were somewhere else than where you are now. .
Some of my favorite ways to find calm:
💧meditation (almost daily, even if just 1 minute)
💧nature (walks or hikes)
💧cooking healthy food
💧solitude (at a cafe or quiet library or a walk)
💧gratitude for at least one good thing in my life
💧reading for fun, not because I have to
💧@heartmath (Inner Balance - basically a cross between meditation and biofeedback: you breathe slowly through your heart area and picture a loved one that brings joy or relive a positive memory to bring your heart, mind, emotions/nervous system into a unified “coherent” state.)
What are some ways that help you remain calm?

She quickly got to her feet and appraised the scene as the bumpy green-skinned creature hefted the heavy weapon for a second attempt. Two more of his kind waded in the swamp having allowed one warrior to approach first silently. That mistake might just cost them dearly she hoped. Well the orc wasn't quite silent enough or Pip would have awoken in the afterlife. She had thought a morning fire would have been okay, not arousing too much attention. But just as it had surely brought in the "swamp flies" that held no fear of smoke, she had readily dubbed the thumb-sized biting creatures last night, it had brought these murderous sentients in. Surely to rob or eat her. The tells were cloudy yet she knew ultimately her death was her goal. She heard tales that the green creatures would eat a wharf rat's ass if they could seek up on the rodent before it turned so eating humans didn't seem too far-fetched to her. The two remaining orcs had dropped the silent routine and were aggressively thrashing their way towards the grassy knoll through the waist-high water. The spidery roots of the some long dead cedar was the only thing keeping the small vestige of an island afloat. Pip knew she had to hurry up and dispatch the first monster dressed in pelts which she didn't recognize the markings, before all three orc overwelmed her. The current combatant was turned, hunched over, with his back half to the shocked redhead winding up for a side swing confounded and grunting for the others to hurry in her language. Even startled out of her skin, Pip was quick as a hungry snake. She promptly pulled her twin throwing daggers with a suckling sound, as the air instantly replaced the blades in the still wet leather sheaths. As she heard splashing from behind, with her left arm, she plunged a dagger into the ugly monster her size's thigh, and jagged ripped the sharp blade across through his hamstring taking out a major tendon in his leg.

q o t d: What are you working on for #writingwednesday?
a o t d: I have some IG content to work on, but then I'm going to be sorting through a MASSIVE breakthrough I made with my novel the other night. [screaming]

I hope you're having a lovely morning so far, friends! I'm out for coffee with my sister, and then I'll have to run a bunch of errands before the weather turns bad again tomorrow/the weekend. So it's going to be a busy day, but I really want to make time for writing, because the breakthrough I made solved SO MUCH. I can't wait to start sorting through it!
What are you most excited about with your WIPs at the moment?
Alright, y’all. Let’s talk books! 📖✨ I’m still reading Misery by Stephen King (because I fail to prioritize reading like I should 🙈), but I love making book lists!
So far, I’m thinking:
- Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling
- The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
- The Shining by Stephen King
- The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty
Aaaaaaaand that’s all I’ve got so far! What other books to do you think I should add to my 2019 reading list? Comment below and tell me your suggestions! 🤗📝🎀☕️

What small step are you taking today toward your #1 goal?
I’m a big fan of setting goals and planning out how I’m going to reach said goals.
But, sometimes too many goals at ones can overwhelm you to the point of quitting or sometimes, not even starting.
So, when you’re first starting out setting goals, it’s best to focus on one goal at time. For instance, when I first started my transformation 7 years ago, the only change I made was to consume as much personal development material as possible! This was easy for me because I loved feeding my mind and soul with powerful material.
This gave me the tools to move on to the next goal, and then the next and so on.
Had I decided to work on 10 goals at once, I might not be the person I am today.
Remember that small steps in the direction you want to go is better than no steps at all!
