  • League News: Chargers GM Tom Telesco says they would like to open contract talks with QB Philip Rivers at some point this offseason. Here’s what Telesco had to say regarding Rivers’ future with the team: “I can tell you he’s not going anywhere, so he’s going to be here,” Telesco said, via ESPN.com. “We’ll talk at the right point, as far as the moves we need to make in the offseason, the resources we have and how it all fits in. But yeah, he’s not going anywhere.” Telesco said that they have not spoken with Rivers’ representatives about a new deal, but mentioned that he hasn’t seen a drop off in Rivers’ play and would like to keep him for the foreseeable future. “I haven’t seen a drop-off in abilities since I arrived here six years ago,” Telesco said, when asked how much longer he believes Rivers can play. “Six years I’ve been here, and he’s been playing better now than when I first got here. So I guess the sky’s the limit, as for how long he wants to play.” Rivers believes he can maintain his high level of play and would like to be with the Chargers for the opening of the new stadium in 2020. “I certainly feel that’s something I want to be a part of and hopefully be helping us still winning football games,” Rivers said. Rivers, 37, is entering the final year of his five-year, $99 million contract that includes $65 million guaranteed and stands to make a base salary of $11 million for the 2019 season. In 2018, Rivers started all 16 regular season games for the Chargers and completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 4,308 yards to go along with 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. In his two playoff starts against Baltimore and New England, Rivers threw for 491 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception to go along with a 56.6 completion percentage. #nfl #nflnews #nfllive #nflupdates #nflnow #nflnetwork #espn #espnnews #espnupdates #espnnow #sports #sportsnation #sport #active #fitness #football #exercise #ball #workout #game #games #footballseason #news #fantasyfootball #fantasysports #fantasyfootballnews #fantasy #philiprivers #chargers

  • PROSPECT PROFILE: This 2019 defensive line class is very strong, so when I have Nick Bosa headlining the EDGE class, that just goes to show how talented this guy really is. • It’s pretty simple really, Bosa is an all-around great prospect. At 6’4” 263 lbs he has a solid frame, but also the quickness and agility to punish slower offensive tackles off the snap. He’s an extremely nuanced pass rusher in terms of his hand fighting and pass rush moves. There’s so many different ways he can get to the quarterback. His run defense is stout, and his overall football IQ is off the charts. • The only question mark really surrounding Bosa is the season-ending core muscle injury that he sustained in 2018. It’s not a big deal in terms of a recovery, but I wish there would’ve been more tape on him from his final collegiate season, and I wanted to see what sort of video game numbers he’d put up statistically. • Comparing him to his brother Joey might be a little lazy, but the two are extremely similar players. They both have a similar frame, play-style, and skill set. I’d actually say that I’m higher on Nick this year than I was on Joey a few years ago. That’s how good Nick is, and that’s why he’s my favorite EDGE rusher in the class.

  • DEVELOPING: Panthers owner David Tepper said the team is not ruling out the possibility of shutting down QB Cam Newton for the entire 2019 season, per David Newton. Newton, 29, dealt with a sore throwing shoulder for the entire season, which resulted in him sitting out the final two games. Newton’s right shoulder was surgically repaired prior to the 2017 season, so there is some concern about his lack of arm strength correlating to that procedure. When Tepper was asked to compare Newton's situation to Colts QB Andrew Luck’s case, he said, "If you told me he took a year off and could recover and be fully recovered and everything else, and that's what it took, an extra year, why wouldn't you do [that]?'' "Now we would have to do other things, right? We'd have to go out and get another quarterback. If you could find me some more cap space I'd appreciate that.'' The Panthers are currently in the process of finding out more information on Newton’s injury and will ultimately go through with what they believe is best for his long-term health. Tepper, once again, reiterated the possibility of them having to add another starting quarterback this offseason, should Newton be unavailable to play in 2019. "Hopefully, Cam's shoulder is fantastic, right? And we're hunky dory, all fantastic,'' Tepper said. "If it's not, you may need more cap space. You may need to go out and find somebody. If you don't, you guys are going to be writing what a dope we are here. Why did we make these other moves? "So think about that. You want to keep your options open, put yourself in best position as you can to win, and I'm talking again for the long term.'' In 2018, Newton started 14 games for the Panthers and threw for 3,395 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions to go along with a 67.9 completion percentage. He also rushed for 488 yards and four scores. #nfl #nflnews #nfllive #nflupdates #nflnow #nflnetwork #espn #espnnews #espnupdates #espnnow #sports #sportsnation #sport #active #fitness #football #exercise #ball #workout #game #games #footballseason #news #fantasyfootball #fantasysports #fantasyfootballnews #fantasy #panthers #camnewton #developing

  • The Chicago Bears left open the possibility of pursuing free agent running back Kareem Hunt, who was released by the Kansas City Chiefs on Dec. 1 after video surfaced of Hunt shoving and kicking a woman in the hallway of his Cleveland residence. In my opinion we should pursue him this offseason we have the money to do so and would be a great pick up on offense. Now this would mean we would probably trade Jordan Howard. I love JH but Kareem is just an unbelievable player. If we are the only team willing to take a chance on him we could offer him less money and could possibly get other player to help this team. What are your thoughts on the situation???

  • League News: Bears HC Matt Nagy said that he talked to former Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt a week ago to ask how he’s doing personally. Nagy, who coached Hunt during his tenure as the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator, had this to say about Hunt’s situation: “A good conversation. It’s an unfortunate situation (and) learning lesson for everybody,” Nagy said, per Rich Campbell. Nagy added that he believes in second chances “but every situation is different.” Bears GM Ryan Pace clarified they “we’re not even close to that point” of pursuing a contract with Hunt, per Campbell. There hasn’t been any reported interest in Hunt since he was cut by the Chiefs back in December after a video surfaced of a February altercation involving him and a 19-year-old woman. The NFL has yet to suspend Hunt while they conduct their investigation into three separate incidents over the past year. For the time being, Hunt remains on the commissioner’s exempt list. Previous reports have said that Hunt is facing more than the baseline six-game suspension for violations of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, given that he was involved in two other incidents last year. Hunt, 23, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2017. In 2018, Hunt started 11 games for the Chiefs and rushed for 824 yards on 181 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with 26 receptions for 378 yards receiving and 14 total touchdowns. #nfl #nflnews #nfllive #nflupdates #nflnow #nflnetwork #espn #espnnews #espnupdates #espnnow #sports #sportsnation #sport #active #fitness #football #exercise #ball #workout #game #games #footballseason #news #fantasyfootball #fantasysports #fantasyfootballnews #fantasy #chiefs #kareemhunt #bears

  • UPDATE: Cardinals veteran WR Larry Fitzgerald tells Adam Schefter of ESPN that he’s still undecided about returning for the 2019 season. Fitzgerald mentioned that he plans to take some time to collect his thoughts, but the team’s decision to hire Kliff Kingsbury as their new head coach has not swayed him one way or another. Cardinals owner Michael Bidwell said recently that he plans to speak with Fitzgerald about returning when the time is right. Reports from last summer mentioned that Fitzgerald may be open to playing beyond the 2018 season, but he has been taking things year to year the past few seasons. Fitzgerald, 35, is a former first-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2004. He agreed to renegotiate his seven-year $113 million contract and signed a two-year, $22 million deal with Arizona that was fully guaranteed and included a no-trade clause back in 2015. Fitzgerald has agreed to a few one-year extensions in recent years and he’s once again in position to be an unrestricted free agent in March. In 2018, Fitzgerald started all 16 games and caught 69 passes for 734 yards receiving and six touchdowns. #nfl #nflnews #nfllive #nflupdates #nflnow #nflnetwork #espn #espnnews #espnupdates #espnnow #sports #sportsnation #sport #active #fitness #football #exercise #ball #workout #game #games #footballseason #news #fantasyfootball #fantasysports #fantasyfootballnews #fantasy #cardinals #larryfitzgerald

  • PROSPECT PROFILE: As a first year sophomore starting quarterback, a lot of people didn’t think Dwayne Haskins would explode onto the scene like he did, but boy did he make a name for himself. In his first year starting for the Buckeyes, Haskins threw for 4,831 yards with a 70% completion rate and 50 TDs to 8 INTs. Haskins’ 86.3 College QBR was the 3rd best in the nation in 2018, and ranks in the 92nd percentile of all NFL quarterbacks. • At 6’3” 220 lbs, Haskins has a sturdy frame and a strong pocket presence. His arm strength is phenomenal, and he has the ability to make any throw to any quadrant of the field on any platform. His production in a competitive Big 10 conference as a first year starter really shows how much upside this guy has. His ceiling is through the roof. • Being a less experienced quarterback does have it’s downsides for Haskins though. To start off, his footwork and overall technique is pretty bad. He constantly throws off a back foot and from a poor platform which leads to some inaccurate throws. He also sometimes puts too much mustard on passes, which can lead to some gross overthrows. Don’t get me wrong, accuracy isn’t a major issue with him, I mean he had the 4th highest completion percentage in the nation. I just think the mechanics need to be worked on a bit if he’s going to hit his ceiling at the next level against tougher opponents. • Any team looking for a franchise quarterback should be looking his way. The fact that he produced at such a high level in his first year starting for such a big program is a big deal, and the arm talent he possesses really gives this guy one of the highest ceilings in the draft. He’s not a technically sound thrower yet, but that can all be improved down the road, which is why he’s my QB2 and why I think he’ll be a top 10 pick.

  • Should we pursue Kareem Hunt this offseason??? In my opinion yes he is a really good running back and thats something we didn't really get with Jordan Howard this season. Ya he turned it on in the last couple of weeks but his production when down. Hunt yes he beat up a woman. To be fair she was in his face and was saying racist things to him but I don't condone what he did but everyone deserves a 2nd chance. What do you think we should do go after Hunt or should we keep what we got? Photo via @swapscenter

  • League News: Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette has initiated a formal challenge to the team’s decision to void the $7 million of guaranteed salary remaining in his rookie contract. This case now heads to an arbitrator, who will ultimately decide whether the Jaguars will be able to eliminate the guarantees in Fournette’s contract after they suspended him one game for fighting with Bills DE Shaq Lawson. On Wednesday, Jaguars HC Doug Marrone told reporters that he met with Fournette and says they are in a “really good place” right now. Fournette has $2.9 million guaranteed in 2019 and another $4.1 million in 2020. Fournette, 23, is a former first-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2017. He is entering the third year of his four-year, $27.15 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $2.93 million for the 2019 season. The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Jaguars to pick up in 2020. In 2018, Fournette started eight games and rushed for 439 yards on 133 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 22 receptions for 185 yards receiving and five total touchdowns. #nfl #nflnews #nfllive #nflupdates #nflnow #nflnetwork #espn #espnnews #espnupdates #espnnow #sports #sportsnation #sport #active #fitness #football #exercise #ball #workout #game #games #footballseason #news #fantasyfootball #fantasysports #fantasyfootballnews #fantasy #leonardfournette #jaguars

  • NFL NEWS: According to Jenna Laine of ESPN, Bucs DT Gerald McCoy has a “real chance” of being released this offseason. • McCoy is carrying a hefty contract, and the Bucs could save about $13M from releasing him. There are also concerns that McCoy won’t fit in newly acquired DC Todd Bowles’ 3-4 scheme. This is a development worth keeping an eye on. Stay tuned.

  • PROSPECT PROFILES: One of the fastest risers and one of my favorite players in 2019 Draft is Jachai Polite, the EDGE rusher out of Florida. • Polite was quiet in his first two collegiate seasons only posting 9 tackles for loss and 4 sacks, but in 2018, he really turned it on. In 13 games, Polite had 19.5 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles. Polite is extremely quick off the line and is probably the most explosive pass rusher in the draft. His bend and hip flexibility to get around tackles with his speed is top notch. Having said that, it’s not all athleticism with Polite. He’s actually a very technically sound pass rusher. He’s great with his hands and has multiple different rush moves in his arsenal. Plus, he has a killer spin move that will leave any offensive lineman in the dust. • With his smaller frame, sometimes Polite can get stumped against bigger tackles due to a lack of power. That small frame doesn’t make him a force when it comes to setting an edge in the run game either, but his effort and athleticism allow him to make up for lost ground after the snap, and has the ability to blow up some plays behind the line of scrimmage. • Overall I love Polite. His speed off the edge is second-to-none, and he’s technically sound enough to contribute right away at the next level. Any team looking for EDGE in this year’s draft need to be looking at Polite as a potential top 15 pick.

  • PROSPECT PROFILE: Kentucky EDGE rusher Josh Allen went on an absolute tear in his senior year, racking up 21.5 tackles for loss, 17.0 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries. Allen’s dominating year earned him three national awards, First-Team All-Pro honors, and the No. 2 EDGE rusher ranking on my board. • Allen is very versatile, and everything you want in the modern day, every-down outside linebacker. He‘s a great pass rusher, using his explosiveness and bend to gain leverage on opposing tackles. The burst and agility he possesses at 260 lbs is really something to behold. He’s big enough to set an edge and stuff the running game, and is also very good in coverage. He has zone instincts that far exceed what you’d expect from a linebacker, but also can cover running backs and tight ends in man coverage pretty well. He can do it all. • The only real criticism I have for Allen is that he’s not a nuanced pass rusher yet. He hasn’t developed many different pass rushing moves, and sometimes struggles to escape blockers with a counter once they’ve successfully engaged. This is all something that can be taught though with the right coaching and hard-work. • Allen’s versatility should make him an every-down player at the next level. His size-speed combination alone will cause trouble for opposing NFL tackles, but he has the traits that give him the upside to develop into one of the premier pass rushers in the league. With EDGE being arguably the most important position other than quarterback, I expect Allen to be selected in the Top 5.

  • "I love Chicago," Gould said. "I lived here. I still live here. Whether you go to the grocery store or you go to a restaurant, that's the question everyone is asking me. I get it. I understand it. Cody's their kicker right now. He's the guy on their roster. He's the guy I think can rebound and have a great season. And do some big things for the Bears down the road. I personally think we give Cody another chance it wasn't his fault vs Philly. If he starts to struggle next year then it will be time to cut him.

  • PROSPECT PROFILE: Kyler Murray has officially declared for the NFL Draft, and I think it’s a huge deal for this year’s quarterback class. The 2019 Class pales in comparison to the 2018 Class, but Murray‘s crazy talent really moves the needle for me, which is why I have him ranked as my QB1. • Murray had some big shoes to fill when reigning Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield graduated, but he seamlessly transitioned into not only a good replacement, but a star. Murray’s 4300+ passing yards with a 69% completion percentage, 1000 rushing yards, and 54 total TDs earned him a Heisman of his own. Those fantastic stats don’t end there though, as he’ll be entering the draft with a College QBR of 95.8, the highest rating of all time! Murray is a special athlete, but he’s not a running quarterback. Murray constantly keeps his eyes downfield and thrives in the pocket, but his elite escapability really sets him apart from the rest. He’s an extremely accurate thrower at every level, and his touch on deep passes is some of the best I’ve seen in a while. He possesses elite arm talent and can make any throw with ease. Simply put, Murray is the best thrower of the football in this class by a wide margin, and his athleticism is what really makes him a superb prospect. • The only major concern surrounding Murray is his size, but I’m not concerned about that at all. Right now it’s sounding like he’s about 5’10”, but we won’t know his official height until the combine or his pro day. Anyway, I don’t care about a couple of inches here or there for a quarterback, I care about how well he can play the position, and Murray plays quarterback at the highest level. He’s extremely smart when running the football and almost never takes unnecessary hits. I mean, the Oakland A’s 2018 first-round pick should know a thing or two about sliding, which is why I have no concerns about his durability. • At the end of the day, Kyler Murray is really, really good at football. The combination of pure arm talent and athleticism that he brings to the table makes him one of the most special prospects we’ve seen in a while, and that’s why he’s my QB1.
