New Years Eve spent on the beach, with fireworks left, right and centre. This year's goal is to experiment more with different types of shots, and focus less on the most obvious scene. This turned out to be the perfect start. 🌟
If you haven't got your ticket for GINdulgence Wellington then you have missed out on Saturday 🙁 It's sold out! 😃
There's still tickets for Sunday available but they are going fast too! Don't forget Monday is a holiday in Wellington so Sunday is just like Saturday this weekend!! 😀😉
Happy Friday from New Zealand, my friends! On the daily, I get asked for my top travel recommendations for this beautiful place I call home, so I thought I'd share a list with you here. Save this post, book your flights, and you're good to go. ♥️🤙 🏔 Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park: For NZ alpine scenes, it doesn't get much better than this. I recommend exploring Tasman Lake for sunrise, Hooker Lake for sunset, staying overnight at Mueller Hut (pre-book on doc.govt.co.nz) and if you want to some more off the beaten path treks, have a quick google. There are tons! Astrophotography here is also unbeaten (better than Tekapo since you'll have minimal light pollution high up). For tips on how to take your best milky way photos, scroll back to one of my Australia astro shots where I go in depth on this. 💦 Lake Pukaki & Lake Tekapo: I personally much prefer Pukaki over Tekapo. I recommend you stock up in Tekapo and - if you're self-contained - pitch camp at Pukaki to watch sunset/sunrise there. Twizel is not far from Pukaki so that you could stay there too. 🧗♀️Wanaka & Queenstown: Again, Wanaka brings the charm, while Queenstown can feel crowded during high season (middle of winter + summer). Your top hikes here are Roys Peak, Isthmus Peak, Brewster Hut, Ben Lomond and the Remarkables. I recommend brunch at Bespoke in Queenstown, staying overnight at the Sherwood in Queenstown and a quick dinner at the Fat Fig in Wanaka. 🌦Milford Sound / Fiordland: A raw paradise you want to spend more than a day in. Marian Lake, The Routeburn Track (you can also do part of this as a day walk), the Kepler Track, the Milford Track (spots can sell out up to a year in advance, refer to the doc website), a cruise in Milford, a kayak or cruise in Doubtful Sound, sunrise over Lake Te Anau; the list is long. 🍃West Coast: You can go far off the beaten track here. Go wild as long as you have the right gear and feel comfortable. Back on the tourist trail, Lake Matheson, the Blue Pools, and Franz Josef Glacier won't disappoint.
I'm maxing out the word limit here. I will continue this list in the next few post!
