Pure Magic | Photograph by Samuel Resendiz (@samuel.resendiz)
“There are moments I will cherish for the rest of my life,” writes #YourShotPhotographer Samuel Resendiz. “I witnessed a newborn sea turtle getting out of its nest, while being sun-kissed by the soft light of a beautiful sunset… pure magic, feeling blessed.” This photo was submitted to our “Celebrating the Planet” assignment. “I agree with #YourShotPhotographer Pam Hanlan who commented, ‘Congratulations! This is amazing. We usually see the small turtles heading toward the ocean. I never expected to see a baby in the golden light and with such intensity. I can see the effort and power it takes to emerge from the sand. The face is so expressive with the eyes closed and the head tilted. It speaks to me. This is a powerful image and a sight that I never expected to see. Thank you so much for sharing.’” — @natgeoyourshot Producer David Y. Lee (@davidylee)
I used to tell myself that our lives are just stories to be told after we’re gone. Somehow, though, it doesn’t feel right that the world was only meant to have you for a little while. Surely someone, somewhere skipped a page or two—the ones where you get to do all the things you never will, where you get to grow old. Elise, I feel so lucky to have spent any time with you at all. You still have lots of pages in my story. Yours are the ones where I practice clarity in self acceptance, find peace in the interim, assign worth to my own intelligence, understand that nothing is so serious that you can’t laugh about it. I’ll keep thinking about you until I see you again, and you inevitably remind me that there’s cookies in the back hallway to heaven... because of course you will. Love you always, my friend. ♥️ // #love#light#happiness#heaven#nature#sunshine#beautiful#life#friends
