Having a dance party is the perfect way to start your wedding day! I love seeing brides having a good time and enjoying every minute of this big day. A lot of time and stress can go into planning a wedding so when the day finally comes... just have FUN 🥂
Fun facts from my current read:
•Millennials weren’t the first people to use abbreviations in our written conversation! A letter discovered from Ancient Greece (that’s BC times) was found with the abbreviation ‘SVBEEQV’, which meant ‘If you’re well, that’s good- all’s well with me.’ Remember that next time you hear some crap about millennials ruining language.
•Stamps were once used to indicate secret messages- for example, a stamp at a right angle, at the top left corner would mean ‘I hate you’!
•A Chinese letter writing manual, written to help Chinese businessmen write to English-speaking partners in 1939 included this gem:
“If you have a friend called Charles, you may, after a few letters, address him as ‘Chaos’; if he is Thomas, then ‘Jommy’ will bring him delight; and if he is Stephen, you will have a correspondent for life if you call him ‘Steenie’.”
😂 Honestly, ‘Chaos’ is pretty badass, who wouldn’t love that?
I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in archival history and of course letter writing! The title is ‘To the Letter: A Celebration of the Lost Art of Letter Writing’ by Simon Garfield.
