Where there is weakness, there is a fall!
As the cub grows to be a potential competitor to the father’s territory, it would be a hard time for the father to sacrifice his territory to this young male.
An interesting incident happened a few days ago and here is the story behind it!
Matkasur, a male who has been controlling the Tadoba lake area was seen by one of the lodge naturalist, @jigneshpatel_jd on a morning drive resting in the Jamunbodi lake. He was seen relaxed, unaware of what would happen in the coming days. On the same day, he left the area and left to a different part of his own territory.
Shera, the son of Matkasur, had already fought with him a few days ago and both were injured during the fight. Now, he had decided to follow the trail of the father and was seen the next morning close to where Matkasur was seen the previous day.
As he advanced with all his confidence, he was seen marking on the same places where the father initially did. He sprayed and growled which out heard the jungle, as he proved his dominance.
The same afternoon, he was seen rake marking on the tree and ended at the point, where he sniffed the scent of the father. He then sat on the same place and position like his father did on the previous day.
What do we infer from this? Will Matkasur lose the territory to his own son? Will Shera be strong enough to defend the territory at this young age?
The questions will be answered in the coming months.
