  • I HIKED MT WHITNEY ❗️The highest point in the continental US! 🌄 22 miles | 6,100 ft elevation gain | 14,496 ft high | time: 15 hours . This is the most intense day hike I’ve ever done. I began the hike at 3am and had to cross several rivers with just a headlamp (super scary). At around 12,000ft, my headaches began due to altitude sickness (advil didn’t help). I had to endure another 5 miles to the summit, where each step was accompanied with throbbing head pain. It was such a relief to reach the summit and the view was well worth it. However, there was still 11 miles back to the car. I was a walking zombie and it took every last bit of willpower (and a strong craving for Chinese food) to get me back to the car. I thought I was ready for Whitney, but it surely surprised me and took all my mental and physical strength. I’m so proud to finally check Mt Whitney off my bucket list ✔️ - Outfit: @ellieactivewear #Loveellie #augustellie #mtwhitney #mtwhitneysummit #mtwhitneytrail #easternsierra

  • I typically shy away from anything that involves walking, but @darlingrobot and @botdot talked me into hiking up to the highest point in the lower 48 states today. It was the longest hike I’ve ever done and the highest altitude I’ve been at. It was a rad day...and I’m completely smoked. #mtwhitney #mtwhitneytrail

  • My Whitney summit: 14,505 ft 🏔 ... Made it to the top of the contiguous US. Broke camp at 3am, summited around noon, and made it off the mountain by 10pm. 22 miles over 2 days (18 on day 2 alone!) and ~6,000 vertical feet gained and then lost. We hiked through freezing weather over snow and ice, but when we reached the top we were met with only blue skies and warm sun. One of the longest and most challenging days of my life but man, what an adventure. More photos to come but for now...rest. 😴

  • We’ve been waiting to open this bottle. Waiting to celebrate good news that never came, a mountain summit that was close but didn’t happen, a 50k we trained for but didn’t close the deal on, and a football season that landed flat. Here we are celebrating a home cooked meal, a long week conquered, health, happiness, and love. Here’s to the fun stuff, the hard stuff, the easy stuff, and the stuff that really matters. ❤️

  • At this moment I remember being frustrated and angry. Angry because I was tired. Frustrated because my mind was giving up. I was mentally beaten. I thought to my self that shit, I mentally suck. I can’t control my mind, it really is one of my biggest weaknesses. And I mean, just thinking that proved my point. So, lesson from Whitney - get your mind in the game! ⟝ Photo by @andresvou

  • 🇬🇧 Here's what happened yesterday. I drove from Visalia to Lone Pine on the Eastern Sierra in California. When I got here I checked-in in my hostel and I saw infos about a fantastic trail that takes to the tallest mountain in California (as well the highest summit in the contiguous United States). It is more or less a 22 miles (35 km) round trip hike to get to the top, which is at 14.505 feet (4.421 m) above the sea level, and a total elevation gain of 6.100 feet (1.859 m). Well, I was planning to spend here just one night and then drive to Las Vegas through the Death Valley, but now I'm spending three nights here because I decided to climb the mountain. Today I obtained my permit and bought a lot of warm hiking clothes as well as food and equipment. Tomorrow I will start hiking at 4 am and it's gonna be great! Stay tuned! • Hi, my name is Ben Meyers and I just finished a day hike of Mt. Whitney, the tallest peak in the 48 states. . Fun facts: it’s 22 miles total (don’t believe my tracking app there was never signal), an elevation gain of 6,100ft, and has the infamous 99 switchbacks along the way. I have MANY words about this journey so let’s see if I can do it any justice at all. First off, I started the hike at 4 AM because it takes 12-16 hours. So it was a super fun start in 28 degree weather and total darkness. The reward was a sunrise to warm my numb fingers and face. The streams and lakes were frozen still frozen, so my plan of refilling water and purifying it didn’t work too well. Luckily, you make friends along a trail. Adam, Travis, Shakti, and Robert kept me company along the way and even had extra water to share, so they literally saved my life. There were some smaller highlights along the way, but it was mostly grueling work to keep moving while the air kept getting thinner and thinner. The adrenaline rush when I finally made it to the top was something I’ve never experienced in my life. I’ll never forget it. Some motivation for wanting to do this hike was to conquer something larger than life, and to prove something to myself. These motives changed in meaning as today approached and especially as I was on the trail. First off, a friend along the way gave me the viewpoint of hikes as an art form. As a way to dance with nature and share something not many will get to experience. It’s odd, but I felt a real connection to the trail and to the mountain. It pushed me on when I definitely wanted to quit. When it comes to proving something to myself, there’s a lot of layers. This has been one of the hardest and most beautiful years of my life. Without getting too deep, I’ve found myself very lost at this point in my life. The endless amounts of expectations can leave me with such anxiety to make something of myself. I don’t know what I want to make myself into, but I’m getting to know myself better than I ever have before. This climb was a statement that I can legitimately do anything if I put my mind to it. I feel exhausted, but free of some burdens I’ve been carrying.

WHAT A DAY!!!!!! 📸: @gerald_hungryman ***Disclosure: I did not think I would be summitting Whitney that day - I THOUGHT I was going to be on-route on Mithril Dihedral, hence the climbing attire and lack of mountaineering attire 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • The hike up to Mt Whitney (14,505 ft / 4,421 m) last weekend was my first time experience this ‘elevation sickness’ people been babbling about. I did not fancy that one bit ⟝ Besides feeling awful and wondering when my legs would fall off I did in fact summited my first fourteener. Pretty damned stoked about that! Thank you @andresvou for pushing me to unbelievable heights 💞 ⟝ With @andresvou @nwalk9 @connie_castles & @jesse_rathod
