  • “It’s not the mountain we conquer but ourselves” -Summited Mt.Whitney via mountaineer route yesterday and still astonished we made it in one day. This was the single most challenging, yet simultaneously rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. Looking forward to the next great gig in the sky 🌌 #mtwhitneysummit #glissadeordie #pinkfloyd #edmundhillary

  • My 3rd time summiting Mt Whitney!! July 6, 2018, my group of 10 hiked into the Whitney zone for a two night back packing adventure. Starting at the Whitney Portal, 8,370 ft elev, carrying our homes on our back, we hiked 6 miles in to trail camp (at 12,000 ft elev) where we would stay for the two nights. Saturday morning summited Mt Whitney (10 miles r/t) the tallest peak in all the contiguous states at 14,505 ft elev., Sunday morning, packed up and hiked out. Total 22 miles r/t. 1st time: 2013, hiked in one day. 14 hours 2nd time: 2014, one day back pack. #mtwhitneysummit #14505ftelevation #hikingadventures #hiker #adventureisoutthere

  • This summer wasn’t exactly how I planned it. I had tons of knee pain and I wasn’t able to get out and climb like I wanted to because of it. Realizing the season was ending and I didn’t get a lot of ticks off my list, I set out last week to get at least one and that was Whitney. It was cold and long, but the Sierras are such an amazing place to explore. #hiking #mtwhitneysummit #sierras

  • We’ve been waiting to open this bottle. Waiting to celebrate good news that never came, a mountain summit that was close but didn’t happen, a 50k we trained for but didn’t close the deal on, and a football season that landed flat. Here we are celebrating a home cooked meal, a long week conquered, health, happiness, and love. Here’s to the fun stuff, the hard stuff, the easy stuff, and the stuff that really matters. ❤️

  • 🇬🇧 Here's what happened yesterday. I drove from Visalia to Lone Pine on the Eastern Sierra in California. When I got here I checked-in in my hostel and I saw infos about a fantastic trail that takes to the tallest mountain in California (as well the highest summit in the contiguous United States). It is more or less a 22 miles (35 km) round trip hike to get to the top, which is at 14.505 feet (4.421 m) above the sea level, and a total elevation gain of 6.100 feet (1.859 m). Well, I was planning to spend here just one night and then drive to Las Vegas through the Death Valley, but now I'm spending three nights here because I decided to climb the mountain. Today I obtained my permit and bought a lot of warm hiking clothes as well as food and equipment. Tomorrow I will start hiking at 4 am and it's gonna be great! Stay tuned! Restate sintonizzati! #lonepine #lonepineca #lonepinecalifornia #mountwhitney #mountwhitneytrail #mountwhitneysummit #mountwhitneyportal #mtwhitney #mtwhitneysummit #mtwhitneytrail #hikingadventures #hikingaddict #whitneysummit #mountainsummit #mountainhiking #hiketothetop #hikingtothetop #amuninni #extremehiking #extremehike #easternsierranevada #easternsierra #easternsierras #inyonationalforest #lookingforbears #iamcrazy #highestpeak #highestmountain

  • Hi, my name is Ben Meyers and I just finished a day hike of Mt. Whitney, the tallest peak in the 48 states. . Fun facts: it’s 22 miles total (don’t believe my tracking app there was never signal), an elevation gain of 6,100ft, and has the infamous 99 switchbacks along the way. I have MANY words about this journey so let’s see if I can do it any justice at all. First off, I started the hike at 4 AM because it takes 12-16 hours. So it was a super fun start in 28 degree weather and total darkness. The reward was a sunrise to warm my numb fingers and face. The streams and lakes were frozen still frozen, so my plan of refilling water and purifying it didn’t work too well. Luckily, you make friends along a trail. Adam, Travis, Shakti, and Robert kept me company along the way and even had extra water to share, so they literally saved my life. There were some smaller highlights along the way, but it was mostly grueling work to keep moving while the air kept getting thinner and thinner. The adrenaline rush when I finally made it to the top was something I’ve never experienced in my life. I’ll never forget it. Some motivation for wanting to do this hike was to conquer something larger than life, and to prove something to myself. These motives changed in meaning as today approached and especially as I was on the trail. First off, a friend along the way gave me the viewpoint of hikes as an art form. As a way to dance with nature and share something not many will get to experience. It’s odd, but I felt a real connection to the trail and to the mountain. It pushed me on when I definitely wanted to quit. When it comes to proving something to myself, there’s a lot of layers. This has been one of the hardest and most beautiful years of my life. Without getting too deep, I’ve found myself very lost at this point in my life. The endless amounts of expectations can leave me with such anxiety to make something of myself. I don’t know what I want to make myself into, but I’m getting to know myself better than I ever have before. This climb was a statement that I can legitimately do anything if I put my mind to it. I feel exhausted, but free of some burdens I’ve been carrying.

  • “The way you naturally see holds, lines, chutes, and features after time up there is rad. There’s a shape-language to each area and the way the rock forms there. That’s really interesting to me, especially as an artist. Take something like Mount Whitney during the winter, the thing is caked in snow and there are these natural curves and bowls that form throughout the terrain that is contrasted so starkly by the ridge Mount Russell in the background.” We sat down with mountaineer and photographer @jldaviestf to chat high altitude climbing in our latest article Davies’ Perspective. • We made it to the top of mount Whitney!! Elevation 14,496 ft. The highest summit in the contiguous U.S. Here’s to another amazing experience. This was definitely NOT easy but I did a lot better than I thought. The push to the summit was grueling and tough but with the motivation of some great friends and of course my partner in crime and adventure @jesse_rathod, we made it dammit.

  • Yesterday me and my awesome hiking buddies reached our goal and summited Mt Whitney. We got to the top just under 7h and took our time enjoying the summit. The longest two miles of my life were the last two before summit. It felt like FOREVER! The rest was down hill... our total time was 13:25 and we were pretty damn happy with that! #mtwhitney #mtwhitneysummit #whitneyportal #hikinglife
