Step 1️⃣ : stop throwing all you payroll in the trending clothes.

  • Go to your fears. Sit with them. Stare at them. Your fears are your friend. Their only job is to show you undeveloped parts of yourself that you need to cultivate. The more you do the things you’re afraid of doing the more your life opens up. Embrace your fears and your fears will embrace you - Jackson Kiddard | @tourismgolden #goldenrules #exploreBC #iceclimbing * * HUGE thanks to @justinrauchphoto for the photos! What an experience... I’m not one to be fearful of many things but for some reason outdoor rock climbing and ice climbing has always been a fear of mine. How do I know that rock isn’t gonna give way? How do I know that bolt is bolted in there super good. How do I know if I fall that the rope is gonna hold me? How do I know the ice is frozen enough it won’t just break off... well you don’t really know 100% you just trust it 🙈🙈 This past weekend I was invited out my @tourismgolden to partake in some activities around town, one being ice climbing. We were the only ones on this wall Sunday and thanks to @markherbison my first ice climbing experience was a success and I def felt like a badass on my first 30m pitch 😎 Can’t wait to share some video with you from this day!

  • Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle, or your middle to someone else's end. This is something that I struggle with a lot on this platform. I didn’t start hiking until my mid-twenties, and I didn’t take my first backcountry camping trip until a few years after that. I still sometimes feel as if there is something I am missing, a class in school on a day I was sick where everyone learned how to properly pack a backpack, ski tour, rock climb, preform backcountry first aid and tie every knot known to man whilst blindfolded with one hand tied behind their back… and ever since I’ve been trying to play an endless game of catch up. So if you ever feel this way remember that some people have their first night in an alpine hut before their first birthday, some learn to ski tour at 16 maybe your first hike is at 23 to impress a boy, perhaps your first summit hasn’t happened yet. But just remember that everyone had to start somewhere.

  • In teaching my life is full of rubrics. For the students and for my teaching. For my professional duties. Leadership positions. What does it look like to be successful in this role? And in this other aspect of this role? Then what does it look like not to be?⁣ ⁣ I show my students how to be successful in my class. If you _____ and your answer is _____ you will be successful. I want them to know what’s expected. No surprises.⁣ ⁣ And I wish it was that simple in life. But as hard as I try to create a rubric, success never fits so neatly into it. Reaching the thing that society or I might think will make me happy or fulfilled often doesn’t have the intended effect. ⁣ ⁣ Because what’s expected isn’t always what I need. ⁣ ⁣ I can check all of the boxes, but I have to constantly remind myself: it doesn’t matter how high I am on the ladder if it’s on the wrong wall. ⁣ #tbt

  • Skipped town last Saturday to duck across the border for a few hours. We knew the snow wasn't gonna be super prime for skiing, so we opted to go for a tour we knew would equate to 13/10 scenic peppie stick eating views and glorious sun soaking opps. I've been to some of these spots down here in every season.. with the summer sunrise, the golden red autumn colours, the full-on winter coat in sheets of sheer ice or waist deep pow {guess which one wasn't the case this time}. And it doesn't matter how many times I visit, it gets me fired up every time - I just love getting eyes on the peaks I'll be climbing this year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Until next time Washington.. which I have a sneaky suspicion will be very, very soon!

  • @thebtown and I recently moved to Carlsbad from the Bay Area and I don’t think it could have come at a better time. We both needed the change. So excited to explore a new part of California this year, focus on our passions, and get more into our new favorite sport. 🚵🏻‍♀️ I have a really weird superstitious, OCD-type thing with odd numbers, but I think 2019 is going to be a good year. 🤗

  • I think it’s so important to not become numb. Numb to the beauty of life. I’ve climbed mountains, paddled rivers, and seen so many beautiful places, that sometimes I forget to truly embrace the moment. I’m challenging you right now to stop reading. Turn off your music, tv or whatever else could be distracting you. Look up from your screen and take in your surroundings. What do you see? Breathe it in for at least 5 seconds, and you’ll be surprised at what you find. ∆ Whenever I’m in an extraordinary place, I sometimes force myself to stop and look around. These moments couldn’t be more important to me. We can get so caught up in the fast paced era we live in that we sometimes forget why we are here. I realize in these moments that the worries or stresses I have… don’t really matter anymore. We only have one chance at this life and there’s no way I want to spend it not paying attention to how beautiful it truly is. ␛ #thewordinthewild

  • Morning in hotsprings Утро в горячем источнике A hot spring is a spring produced by the emergence of geothermally heated groundwater that rises from the Earth's crust. While some of these springs contain water that is a safe temperature for bathing, others are so hot that immersion can result in injury or death. Геотерма́льный исто́чник— выход на поверхность подземных вод, нагретых выше +20 °C. Также существует определение, в соответствии с которым источник называется горячим, если имееттемпературу выше среднегодовой температуры данной местности. ------------------------------------------------------------------ For more bucket list material follow us Подпишись, будет много нового @intothewild_travel_guides 🤙🏽
