Now that I’m on eBay selling items in a staggered yet consistent fashion, I’m reminded of a couple of things I would like to vent:
🌷Some people bid, win the auction, and then you never hear from them again. I have reported them rather than leave negative feedback to this point, given that I just relist the item again, but it’s ANNOYING you guys. If anyone here is a culprit when they’ve been caught in an auction frenzy and bid too high before they’ve realised what they’re doing, then just TELL the seller. It’ll make them feel a whole lot better rather than chasing in vain hope that they can squeeze blood from a stone. Time is money 💰!
🌷EBay’s fees. It’s like an American restaurant. You like what you see, you eat it, you go to pay, and sadly you end up supplying an unexpected tip for average service, and state tax that I can never figure out at the time. And then you’re shooed out the door into the cold.
🌷People asking boring questions and being generally banal. I have a pretty strict policy now where I don’t even answer questions about measurements on items anymore - it doesn’t seem a valuable use of my time and I’m not desperate enough that I need someone like that to bid. I find that the more additional details you supply those types, the more likely they are to spit in your face and lump liability on you when they receive the item. Take your pedantry somewhere else!
🌷This particular point is more from a buyer’s than a seller’s perspective - but if you’re going to list an item for several hundred dollars, allow people to make offers, and then refuse to accept discounts no higher than $5 off the original asking price, that is NOT NEGOTIATION. That is taking the piss. And you’ll be stuck with your item a lot longer than needed.
Rant over...for now.
Because what you really need will usually cost less😉
When my husband and I got married in 2012, we thought we had to go through “the steps”.
We got pregnant in 2013, and I thought we HAD to have a house. Having zero financial knowledge, what did I do? I googled “how much home can I afford” and plugged in our data.
It gave me a rough amount that I “should” shoot for. It didn’t occur to me at all to shop below that price point. I had my realtor finding homes in that range and was pre-approved to spend that much.
Why did no one tell me that it’s possible to live with less? Because it’s just one of those things you have to learn on your own. Yes, we afforded the 5 bedroom house, but our investment and college funds would be so much more padded if we had looked for less. And that sort of peace of mind is way more valuable to me than having a basement bar.
We’ve since gotten so much smarter and more frugal since writing that bank depleting downpayment check in 2013, and I’m thankful for the hindsight!

This is truth right here. If you think about it, what is "enough"? At the beginning of our debt free journey I joined an MLM thinking that would be the key to get us out of debt. I was wrong.
Instead of giving us more $ to get out of debt quickly, the Father showed me that He'd rather I embrace a simpler life and cut our expenses instead. I might have put up a fuss at first, but eventually I complied.
There is such FREEDOM that comes from desiring less! You are no longer controlled by the need to continually buy more or the need to continually do more. It is a blessing to come to the place where you realize that the Lord is enough, and everything you need is sitting right beside you.💕

This attic/roof framing consists of a factory- built truss system, comprised of components called chords, webs, and struts that are connected by wood or metal gussets nailed or glued in place. Each component of the truss is designed for a specific purpose, and cannot be removed or modified without compromising the integrity of the entire truss. The lowest component, which is called the chord and to which the ceiling is attached, can move by thermal expansion and contraction and cause creaking sounds, which are more pronounced in the mornings and evenings along with temperature changes. Such movement has no structural significance, but can result in small cracks or divots in the drywall or plaster.
