People often ask (and I often wonder) “does photography stop us from living in the moment?” .
Take this morning for example: we woke up to a breathtaking sunrise 🌅 overlooking Monument Valley but between the tripod setup, dead batteries and a pinch of morning grogginess 😴this exact moment in time was a little less peaceful than it appears. So the question begs... does doing two things at once reduce your overall enjoyment of the experience?
After we took a few snaps we hopped back into the van and riffled through the play back screen to see if we got “The Shot.” You see, for @eh.mon and I the very act of framing and taking a photograph helps focus our attention on the aspect of the experience most worth capturing and remembering – ie., the way the AM light hits this landscape. In turn, I believe our memory of this spot gets a little extra etch in the brain.
In today’s social media world I think this is a question for us all. How does photography/videography effect your experience?! Could a “mental picture” have the same effect?
Now I know why Forest Gump stopped running at this spot! ✨ — #StayWild

Escaped the Canadian winter for some much needed... snow?! 🙈❄️
The USA always felt like a destination we would travel “one day.” It felt close enough to home that the culture wouldn’t shock us, the distance wouldn’t exhaust us, and the opportunities wouldn’t escape us. It seemed a safe save for the retirement years...
If we hadn’t of moved our lives into 65 sq ft last year I’m sure we would’ve postponed this travel until the later years (and risk missing out on all of THIS!). For all the reasons I’m grateful for #vanlife 🚐 the travel we’ve done on our home continent tops the chart.
Been loooooving Arizona and something in particular that we’ve been experiencing here. I share allll about it in today’s vlog. GO WATCH episode 2 of Baja Bound (✌🏼link in bio) and then come on back and let’s chat about it!
WILD WILD WEST! ❤️ 📍Monument Valley, USA 🇺🇸 ▫️ ▫️
Bona nit! 😘
