  • Not Pictured: Being about 16 hours post 48 hours of food poisoning. Coming straight from a 10 hour horrible bumpy night bus ride and arriving at 5 AM. Deciding we were going to walk to the hostel because it was 1 KM away which changed to a 5 KM hike uphill. Me cursing @jerboych under my breath even though nothing was his fault (🙈) ⠀ Pictured: The beautiful colours of our absolutely favourite place in Vietnam; Dalat. ⠀ 📸 @jerboych

  • 26 trips on this big beautiful world around the sun 🌎🎉 What a year it’s been! Most importantly, I have been so blessed to work, study, and play with @jerboych and my incredible family and friends by my side. This past year I got to try my hand at new outdoor adventures like rock climbing, ice climbing, and skiing, to start a masters program, to camp and explore the Canadian Rockies, to learn, to grow, to challenge and to be challenged, and to work on slowly figuring out who I am, what I’m convicted of, and who holds me in His hands. Excited to see what 26 has in store! ✌️ ⠀ 📸 @jerboych

  • | i took this shot on a moving ferry before i knew a thing or two about photography two summers ago while studying and traveling through Europe. The first one is a recent edit, while the second one is an old edit of the exact same picture. I find it so fascinating how things can change so much over the course of two years . . . Would you believe me if i told you i shot this on my phone in HDR with the @oneplus 2 // #oneplus #atlastrails

  • “People are capable, at any time of their lives, of doing what they dream of.”-The Alchemist • Mars and I each set a reading goal for the year. Last year, I missed mine by a long shot, but The Alchemist is one that will return to my reading list every year. • I’ve realized though that we as human beings make excuses for our dreams. The dream begins to grow, maybe we feel a little anxiety, and we often push it off as “being the wrong time.” • We don’t give up on our dreams, but we push them off to a later time. Then, when we reach this “magical” later time, we tell ourselves it is too late, or maybe it still feels like the wrong time. • Here is what I have found: the right time is the time when you feel the urge to jump. • We had Everly at the totally “wrong” time. We were married barely two months when we found out we were pregnant. A lot of my personal dreams faded into dreams I now carried for Everly, and others, as you can see, changed form and became dreams I carried for all of us as a family. • It’s never too late, or too early, to make moves toward your dream when you feel that familiar stirring to go for it.

  • It’s been a while since we’ve had a real introduction and we wanted to say hello to some new followers! • We are the Fite family! Mars (hubs), Ashley (me!), Everly (blonde not-so-toddler anymore 😩), Beirut (9-year-old puppy). • We live on the road full-time in our van Edison. Our goal is to simplify, be more connected to ourselves and each other, and build incredible memories! • We hit the road April 1, 2017, and (rarely) look back! I definitely have my moments of nostalgia, but I promise they fade quickly! • My absolute favorite part of life on the road is the people we meet! This photo, for instance, was taken by our new friend @laurenfletcherphotography of @ourviewfinder • We LOVE meeting other travelers and hearing their joys and challenges too. Community, to me, is what makes life awesome and meaningful. We’re all in this together after all! • Also, we are posting a new YouTube video today about our experience vanlifing in Florida. Be sure to check out the link in our bio! We will do a live travel talk tonight at 6PM MST for any unanswered questions! Hope to have you with us!

  • I once had a long layover in Tripoli, Libya shortly before Gaddafi was “fired”. I had to keep my cool for an hour, trying to explain to Arabic speaking customs officials that the multi vitamins in my bag were not illegal drugs. I’m glad I changed my return flight- not only because the airport was eventually destroyed... but also because The creepy music and face of Gaddafi that appeared on all the TV screens at designated times in the day kinda weirded me out. And then, on the way home, in NYC I had to keep my cool when custom officials there sat me in a room, alone, for a long time before letting me go with no explanation... they must have decided the 2 liters of wild African honey with bee larva floating in it like some horrid lava lamp (the larva tasted like milk drops when crushed in your teeth btw), the black mamba skin, and the wild roots that had viagra like properties- were not too much of a concern after all. • Thinking about growth today and all the different ways we’ve grown the last year - in our ambitions, in our knowledge, in our passions, in our compassion and understanding, in our kindness, and in each other. ✨ Setting my resolutions for the year and you bet they’re going to kick my butt💥, but you know as they say: work hard, play hard.

  • "What's the purpose of your travels?" The US Border Services Agent said as he studied my mug shot of a photo in my new passport that had arrived only a couple weeks ago. "I'm going hiking in Patagonia." "Alone?" "Yes, just me." "Do you have a guide or a group booked?" "No, I'm doing it myself." "So you are just going to hike off into the mountains of Argentina by yourself?" "That's the plan." "Well good luck with that." He said as he shook his head in disbelief. He thought I was absolutely nuts. I could feel the familiar trickle of insecurity and self-doubt rise up through my chest and into my throat as I walked off to my gate. No time for thoughts like these, it's settled and I'm going, I reassured myself. The morning before setting off on the trail I was a pile of nerves. Chain smoking cheap South American cigarettes, I checked over my pack, 1, 2, 3 times even though I knew I had everything I needed for five days in the mountains: this wasn't my first rodeo backpacking. But I was procrastinating and afraid. That's the thing about me and fear, it's not that I have none or that I am a particularly brave individual. This genuinely scared the shit out of me. I could feel my stomach up in my throat and was visibly shaking as I strung up the laces of my hiking boots that morning. Not the signs of a brave girl who marches off into the mountains in a foreign country confidently, as much as I'd like everyone to believe that. I think I've come to realize I just genuinely enjoy the feeling of being uncomfortable. That edgy uneasiness taking up 100 percent of my thoughts. It might be in part because I've never felt so present, so consumed by nerves there is nothing else on my mind but my current reality. Why is it you feel most alive when your heart skips a few beats? And then here I find myself. Sitting on top of a mountain, head to the sky actually laughing out loud. Thinking to myself: well shit Kourt, you did it. And that's the real reason why I'll keep seeking out that life on the edge. Where the lines of comfort are totally crossed. Because at the end of it all, I get to march out of the mountains feeling stronger, tougher and taller then ever.
