  • Joining the #theahimsaproject2019 with an interesting question, What does ahimsa (non violence, kindness and compassion) mean to you? . Having a read of @neverseenherbivore posts on instagram who introduced me to the project, ahimsa can be applied into so many areas of life. She talks about the environment and how we directly impact through small changes, Giving kindness without expectation, The Sweatshop Industry to name a few. Go check her IG out and also the amazing Ahimsa Project that is being talked and shared about during the month of January . So it got me thinking… respect for all living things and avoidance of violence towards others. I’m keen to answer this question in many ways, though the most obvious for me is looking after our animals on this planet. . Peoples perceptions of looking after animals come in all shapes and forms. For me, it’s not eating meat or dairy. . The person who introduced me to Veganism 5 years a go and actually is so passionate about Ahimsa, also shared a very good video the other day by Philip Wollen @acroyogacoach . "We're running out of excuses for those that have no voice" Check out the video and let me know what you think. If we all did what he mentioned, we would certainly be living a non violence, kindness and compassionate life, every day just through one lifestyle choice. To me, that’s the beginning of ahimsa . Want to join the Ahimsa Project? It’s running throughout January. You just need to follow all of the hosts and sponsors, and then post telling me - what does ahimsa (non violence, kindness and compassion) mean to you? Use the hashtag #theahimsaproject2019 - and you could win some awesome vegan, eco prizes (described in comments!) Hosts: @neverseenherbivore @toughlovecollective Sponsors: @turtley_eco @peacepeopleproject @authenticcorkdesign @thegirlthatdrawsfoxesandthings @freesoulsistas @idayog @dearestfannie . . • - Repost from one of our Personal Trainers - Toby Lynes - DEADLIFT SET UP: Many people attempt to squat the weight up, predominantly using their quads. You’ll find these people with their hips sunk low, emphasising knee flexion over hip flexion. - However, the left picture is the opposite where the hips are set too high and the leg/knee angle are in a position typically seen at the end range of a RDL/straight leg deadlift. - Initiating a deadlift from this position uses barely any quads and dramatically increases the risk of any lower back injury (disc, joint or muscle). For gen pop, lifting a heavy load with a flexed spine is a big no go. If you deadlift in this position coupled with poor hamstring mobility, the more flexed your spine will be & the more posteriorly tilted your pelvis will be = even higher risk of injury. - The left picture was how client Nerys set up for her deadlift for rep 1. The right picture was how Nerys was ending her deadlifts consistently for reps. A balance of posterior chain (hamstrings & glutes) and anterior chain (quads) is key, and will be the most effective way of lifting. The position on the right will get you to drive through both areas, whilst maintaining a neutral spine. - #personaltraining #personaltrainer #PT #personaltraininggym #coach #fatloss #weightloss #strengthtraining #deadlift #hypertrophy #fitness #gym #technique #thefittingrooms #TFR #londonbridge #boroughmarket #se1
