  • 📸 Photo credit: Incredible picture by: @jordan_robins be sure to check them out!! Cowtail stingray: Pastinachus sephen •Distribution:They are widespread in the Indo-Pacific region and occasionally entering freshwater habitats. •Lifespan: Unknown. •Size: This species may reach 3 meters (9.8 feet) long and 1.8 meters (5.9 feet) across. •Diet: They feed on bony fishes, snails, bivalves, and sea squirts. •Conservation status: Data deficient. •Dangerous: The serrated spine of the cowtail stingray is potentially dangerous, and this species is regarded as particularly dangerous to handle as its long tail is capable of reaching over its back to strike someone gripping it from the front. •Did you know?: Shuffling your feet along a sandy shallow sea floor is the best way to avoid stepping on a stingray and potentially getting stung. Please comment what marine animals you would like to see on my page in the future :)

  • Somewhere along the line someone told me I was too much, that the full version of me was overbearing and overwhelming. Unfortunately, I was young enough to listen, to take their shit onboard, except it as my own, and cater who I am for someone else’s issues. I’ve noticed that when things start to drop deeper, when opportunities start to open and I have to show up, I get freaked... I back pedal, look for the back door and bail out. The energy that creates the captivating connection with potential for growth, becomes the same thing I’m scared to share. The underlying belief being that if I’m the full me, if I show up in all my guts and glory, the world will say no. Beyond the shame of lying to others and the lingering regret of missed moments, the worst bit of this is that I’m not showing up for myself, I’m not expressing the one thing I was born an expert at being... me. Without light, love and space to grow, things fester and rot... I know with near certainty that this pattern of shying away and sharing what I thought others wanted lead to the depression and capitulation of my sense of self. Sure there was a catalyst for the collapse, but it just helped me realise that for me, life isn’t worth living if I’m not living it as me. Now, when I’m suffering a situation and I dig into it, it’s the same story playing out. What am I not sharing? What am I scared to express? Sometimes it takes time, but eventually I try to follow the fear and find more to learn, more to own and more to love. #thehumanlife

  • 📸 Photo credit: Incredible picture by: @alexmustard1 be sure to check them out!! Striped mackerel: Scomber japonicus •Distribution: Chub mackerel are widespread in the Indo-Pacific. They are absent from the Indian Ocean except for South Africa from KwaZulu-Natalto Western cape, and are replaced by the closely related Atlantic chub mackerel in the Atlantic. •Lifespan: They can survive up to 25 years in the wild. •Size: It is a smaller fish than its better-known relatives(Atlantic chub mackerel) growing to a length around 8 to 14 inches (20 to 36 cm). •Diet: As they grow, they feed on progressively larger prey. Adults will eat any fish smaller than themselves, feeding heavily upon small herring, sand lance and young mackerel. They also consume a variety of invertebrates such as copepods, crab larvae, squid and shrimp. •Conservation status: Least concern. •Dangerous: Not to humans. •Did you know?: The chub mackerel is not a predator, so it relies on camouflaging itself to stay hidden from its predators. Although it cannot change colors or spray ink like other marine species, it has a dorsal pattern very similar to the light pattern that the waves and sun work together to emit. When in danger, they move close to the surface of the water to merge with the flickering light of the sun. From above, spotting the chub mackerel is difficult, which helps keep it safe from predatory birds. Please comment what marine animals you would like to see on my page in the future :)

  • 📸 Photo credit: Incredible picture by: @scott_rettig be sure to check them out!! Whitley’s boxfish: Ostracion whitleyi (male) •Distribution: Eastern Central Pacific: Hawaii to the Marquesas Islands and central and easter Polynesia. •Lifespan: Unsure. •Size: 6inches. •Diet: It feeds mainly on algae but will also feed on sponges, crustaceans and molluscs. •Conservation status: Not evaluated. •Dangerous: Not to humans. •Did you know?: If stressed, these species may be able to exude a deadly toxin that is unique to its own species. It is actually toxic to itself and could kill itself if too stressed. Please comment what marine animals you would like to see on my page in the future :) Hey guys, sorry I haven’t been posting much recently, I have some important exams coming up so i have been quite busy.

  • After a night of having a small army of raccoons try steal anything potentially edible from our campsite, including catching one red-handed trying to roll away with my buddy’s giant jug of protein powder, I woke up the next day to do some exploring and found an island full of tiny, little sand crabs. This guy was not so enthused on me taking his picture, but I snapped a few and then left him in peace.

  • Downtown Mobile was really pretty. Unfortunately we didn't stay in downtown. We stopped off on our way into New Orleans for Mardi Gras and stayed in an area called Tillman's Corner. Now I'm not terribly picky when it comes to hotels... A clean bed and a shower will generally do the trick. But when you get into your room and the door's been kicked open, all the blankets and pillows are thrown into the corner, and your crack/meth-head neighbors are loudly sorting through their newly acquired lot of stolen goods next door, it's not a good start. Needless to say, we switched rooms. Twice. And ended up sleeping with the lights on. Not sure I'll be back to Mobile... #mobile #alabama #nightphotography

  • If you want to see some gators up close and personal, Anhinga Trail in the Everglades is an amazing place to do it. They're everywhere you look, along with tons of other wildlife. And the action doesn't stop when the sun goes down. Though this picture was taken during the day, walking the trail at night is a-whole-nother world. It's a bit spooky with all the creeks and cracks and splashes all around, but definitely quite the thrill. #everglades #alligator
