I’m working towards an exhibit of a collection of my work later in the year... this will be one of my pieces. It uses hand dyed raffia from plants in my neighbourhood!

Since I’m taking some time off I don’t have anything new to show you so I thought I’d share again this video, which was one of my most popular posts this year 💙 Happy punching to everyone who received a kit for the holidays 🙌🏻

Book Number 4 in the 2019 Goodreads Reading Challenge is: “Deliverance Mary Fields, First African American Woman Star Route Mail Carrier in the United States: A Montana History” by Miantae Metcalf McConnell
It was a beautiful August day last summer in Apgar Village, MT, in Glacier National Park, when this book caught my eye at Montana House, a general store in the park. The storekeeper commented that she’d not read the book yet, but she had lots of customers tell her it was fantastic. Admittedly, the cover caught my eye, a strong-looking woman holding a rifle - who WOULDN’T want to know the story that goes with that photo? Plus, biography of a historical figure to boot! Count me in!! This is a hefty tome, even in paperback, at over 500 pages with smallish writing. And, before we get too far - this is a biography and novel twisted into one. It’s not straight up one or the other, but it IS “exhaustively researched” as I read in someone else’s review on Goodreads. The bibliography at the back is impressive.
But, okay - why would this book appeal to you, fellow reader? Well, the book touches on: slavery, rounding up of Native Americans onto reservations and the stripping of culture in the “Indian Schools”, the disappearance of Native women, conversion to Christianity of the Native Americans, racism, abuse of women (including rape), the battle for suffrage rights, strong women of mind and body, adventure, spiritualism, symbolism, oh…. Horses and gardening, too. And, THAT is just a sampling.
The author does a fine job, in my opinion, of pulling all of the above into a readable, enjoyable, educational book. I think a lot of other women would enjoy this, but, I think with today’s environment of dialogue in understanding what women are still going through, men would do well to read this book, too, to gain a deeper understanding of what women have dealt with historically, and many are still dealing with today.
Why you always carrying that jug of water? Do you really drink all of that in a day?
⠀⠀ Actually, Susan. Yes I do. 😉
Drinking a gallon of 💦 a day may seem like another mountain to climb if this isn’t your regular thing. Or maybe unheard of to it. But why?
✨ Rids toxins in your bodies 🦠 Water flushes out toxins and other metabolic waste products from the body. Water is especially important when following a "high protein" diet, as it helps remove excess nitrogen, and ketones. ⠀⠀
✨ Metabolizes fat-Without enough water, the kidneys can't function properly. When this happens, some of the load is transferred to the liver. The liver metabolizes stored fat for energy. If the liver is doing some of the kidneys' work, it burns less fat. In addition, water can actually reduce feelings of hunger.
✨ Believe it or not-water helps lose water weight. ⠀⠀
✨ Prevents headaches by avoiding dehydration while keeping skin hydrated, as well. Bonus: Healthy, glowing skin. Boom ⠀⠀
Extra bonus: If you drink a gallon of water a day, you won’t have time for other people’s drama because you’ll be too busy peeing. Stay hydrated, my friends. ⠀⠀

Don’t just say “I have been fooled” and feel disappointed in yourself. Don’t cry. Don’t be sad. Instead, get up and say “Ok, I learned something new, this is new experience, I had to pay for that in some way”. Always believe in yourself, everything is gonna be ok🙏
Last night the lovely Kirstie from @theworkbenchldn joined us for a Ring Carving Workshop. It’s always so nice to see our downstairs space come to life at the workshops, and watch everyone taking a little time for themselves to learn something they’ve often never tried before. I also got to take part it this one and really enjoyed being able to switch off, learn about the making process, and make my own carved wax design - I’ll share some more pictures in stories. I can’t wait to see how it looks after Kirstie (on the left) works her magic and sends it back cast in a beautiful shiny silver ✨
Your boy says he has fire for a good price and shows up with this, but still for a “good price”.. what you doing?... I already know what I’m doing lol. I got this specific outdoor strain for a specific reason! Most you jokers wouldn’t even know what to do with what you consider “bad weed” 🤦🏼♂️ ugh. The lack of knowledge.
Here it is.... It's with pleasure we can announce Marc Dennis the owner of @duchycharcuterie . He'll be bringing a wealth of experience and expertise. A superb opportunity to learn the art of charcuterie, curing and production of the finest dried meats.

Daily sketch. Today marks four years I've been drawing, painting, or creating something everyday. This next year, I'd like to get more comfortable working digitally so here's a figure study I did in Clip Studio Paint.

Hey guys!! Let's talk about sugar:
There are a lot of dangers to eating a chronic high sugar diet. Sugar hides in a lot of foods and people don't realize it. Sugar also hides in different names on an ingredient list other than the word sugar. Examples of that are sucrose, glucose, maltodextrin, corn syrup, etc. I wanted to write you guys up a list of the dangers of a high sugar diet:
🍭 Chronic high sugar intake can reduce the bodies ability to handle carbs:
🍬This reduces insulin sensitivity. 🍬This increases insulin response to meals. 🍬 This leads to excess fat gain due to chronic high insulin levels (especially around the "love handle" and upper back area's). 🍬 The eventual consequence of poor carbohydrate tolerance is borderline or full-blown diabetes. 🍬High amounts of sugar in the blood, caused by chronic high sugar intake, can cause the binding of sugar molecules to blood proteins. This is called glycation. 🍬Glycation of proteins causes decreased biological activity of proteins and has been linked to the following and more:
🍰Premature aging 🍰Cancer 🍰Altered vision, cataracts, retinopathy. 🍰Alzheimer's 🍰Vascular disease 🍰Erectile dysfunction 🍰Kidney disease 🍰Joint pain and arthritis
