I've been a busy busy bee lately, trying to get paintings completed. I had one day this week when I hated everything I painted. It happens. You have good art days and bad. Let's just hope today is a good art day!
Huge thank you to the wonderful Manor Magazine for featuring our current mixed Winter show in their Culture pages. Maggie Matthews’ painting ‘Harvest Moon’ has been given a whole page and David Mankin’s painting ‘Serpentine Summer’ is also featured.
“... Among the paint contingent is new work by Maggie Matthews, who looks to the Cornish countryside for inspiration, focusing on hedgerows and collected leaves and seed pods which are then abstracted back in the studio. ‘Harvest Moon’ is a large abstracted hedgerow in deep blues, with textured layers of mark making built up onto the canvas to create a piece rich with atmosphere and depth. The show is also a chance to see some of the abstract expressionist Cornish landscape paintings by David Mankin, whose work has garnered much international interest and is a new name to watch on the Cornish arts scene....”
