3/4 cup (180 ml) unsweetened apple juice, apple cider, or water
1-2 tablespoons sugar (granulated white or brown sugar) or to taste, optional.

1 1/2 pounds (675 grams) firm textured apples.
1 tablespoon (13 grams) butter
2-4 tablespoons (25-50 grams) granulated white sugar (depending on the sweetness of your apples)
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
150 grams apricot preserves
1 tablespoon water
