When I first moved out on my own, away from living with my parents, in university housing or with roommates, I was gifted with the most wonderful neighbour, a Danish Geologist named Jeppe. Upon learning this about him I would periodically knock on his door loaded with a plate of fresh baked cookies and a handful of questions about rocks (or glaciers or mountains or hot springs or simply a general lack of understanding about the planet that we live on…). He would laugh and indulge me in my curiosities. After a few of these encounters he preemptively stopped by one evening with one of his undergraduate textbooks (thankfully in English). I spent the following few weeks worth of lunch breaks and evenings trying to wrap my head around as much as I could and formulating a list of (slightly less elementary) questions. Before long we were back to our cookie for knowledge bartering system. I look back on this time in my life as a turning point, where my relationship with the mountains changed from an admiration to a curiosity. I think that the more we know about the earth the more we can (and want to) care for and fight to protect it. #thankyoujeppe#pleasemoveback

This was moments after I told everyone there were hundreds of spiders crawling down the rocks. Just water droplets falling behind the ice is all it was. I'm off to a good start for 2019
Two of my favorite things, you and hot springs 🔥🔥🔥
We went to Costa Rica to re-live our honeymoon! After receiving an alert from @pomelo.travel that airfare was less than $200, we bought tickets without hesitation. Two weeks before the flight, we figured we should probably get our itinerary in line! It’s interesting that before #vanlife, we would have spent hours researching our vacation destination many, many weeks in advance. Vacation planning is such a great way to get your mind out of the daily grind and take a mental vacation!
Since we’ve been traveling full time the last two years, this planning task has changed dramatically for us. We face these type of vacation planning decisions daily! Maybe we’re just getting better at doing this on the fly, going with the flow, or maybe we just need less of a mental vacation from our everyday. Either way, it surprised us both how lackadaisical we were about this trip preparation!
Are you a vacation planner or like to wing it?? And for the vanlifers here, have you noticed this change as well?
Who doesn’t love a relaxing soak in a natural hot spring? .
I certainly do! 💙 .
Hot springs are one of Mother Nature’s great gifts and in this respect she has been especially generous to Idaho- more hot springs here than anywhere else in the USA!
