Worldwide, cows drink 45 billion gallons of water and eat 135 billion pounds of food each day. Hence the cows consume 6-9 times more than humans. Also, did you know that 2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of beef.
Animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of Amazon destruction and 1-2 acres of rainforest are cleared every second. The leading causes of rainforest destruction are livestock and feedcrops. Animal agriculture is also the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution, and habitat destruction. Livestock operations on land have created more than 500 nitrogen flooded deadzones around the world in our oceans. For you to understand how inefficient animal agriculture is 1.5 acres can produce 37,000 pounds of plant-based food, 1.5 acres can produce 375 pounds of beef....

Vegan Barbecue Pulled Pork⠀
2 ciabatta buns⠀
1 ½ lb. oyster mushrooms⠀
Vegetable oil (not olive oil)⠀
12 oz. bottle barbecue sauce⠀
1 cup vegan mayo⠀
4 tbsp. coconut sugar⠀
½ tsp. celery salt⠀
Pepper to taste⠀
½ cup apple cider vinegar ⠀
1 bunch kale, chopped⠀
2–3 carrots, shredded⠀
⅓ onion, chopped⠀
Shred mushrooms with a fork. Add vegetable oil to a hot skillet. Avoid using olive oil because it has a low burn temperature. Add mushrooms and cook until they release their liquid and it evaporates. Add barbecue sauce (reserving a few tablespoons for the dressing) and let the mixture simmer a few minutes. ⠀
Make slaw by combining the kale, onions, and carrots in a bowl. In a separate bowl mix together all other coleslaw ingredients. Pour mixture over veggies and massage in with hands to break down the kale a bit. For the dressing whisk together the remaining barbecue sauce and a bit of vegan mayo. Assemble your sandwich by adding pulled mushrooms to a toasted ciabatta bun and pouring some dressing over the mushrooms. Enjoy!
Red Curry Tofu Dumplings 🥟🥣 by @hellolisalin 👋🏼
14-ounce package of firm tofu
1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable or olive oil, plus more for frying dumplings
1/3 cup chopped shallots
2 tablespoons minced ginger
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups finely sliced napa cabbage
2 scallions, finely sliced
2 tablespoons red curry paste
2 tablespoons coconut milk
1 teaspoon salt
40 to 50 round dumpling wrappers
water for wrapping dumplings, plus more for cooking
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 teaspoons sugar
Press the tofu: Drain the tofu from the package and wrap the tofu with a layer of paper towels. Place the block of tofu on top of a plate and place a small stack of plates over the tofu. Let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes. Unwrap the tofu block and divide it into 2 pieces. Crumble the tofu by squeezing it in your hands. Set the crumbled tofu aside.
Cook the filling: Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons of oil in a large pan. Add the shallots and cook for 2 minutes. Add the ginger and garlic and cook a minute more. Next, add the cabbage and scallions and cook until the cabbage starts to wilt, about 2 minutes. Transfer the tofu to the pan. Add the red curry paste, coconut milk, and salt to the pan, and stir to coat the tofu and vegetables. Turn off the heat. Transfer the filling to a large bowl and let it cool for 15 minutes.
Make the dipping sauce: Mix the dipping sauce ingredients together, until the sugar dissolves. Set the dipping sauce aside.
Prep the dumpling-making station: Fill a small bowl with water for wrapping the dumplings. Grab a baking sheet for the finished dumplings and a towel to cover the dumplings to prevent them from drying out. Get a spoon for scooping the dumpling filling.

The thing that’s annoying about there suddenly being lots of them is the nagging suspicion that they might be right.
After all, it’s not as if eating meat is an incontrovertibly lovely thing to do. I mean, it’s lovely to eat, it’s delicious, but I’m talking about actually killing an animal: you know, an organism that can feel stuff, and likes some things and doesn’t like other things, that can pretty clearly experience fear – either that or it can act, which would be an even greater sign of sentience. It doesn’t necessarily feel particularly great to put an end to that creature’s life, I imagine. So, speaking personally, I’m thrilled it all gets handled by other people, because I don’t reckon that if I’d just, say, strangled a goat I’d be feeling brilliant about myself.
Still, it’s hard to frame an argument that it’s actually wrong not to kill them. I told you that B12 is the only essentiall nutrient you can't get from plants. Still there're several nutrients People are afraid of not getting enough.
Protein: funnily, People think that all essentiall amino acids are only in meat. To refute that, it's enough to name vegan athletes: Carl Lewis, Louis Hamilton, Bratt Pit, Jermain Defoe.
You get all 8 essentiall amino acids from plants. It is true that animal protein has a higher biological value (=more essentiall acids in one product) but in a healthy, balanced plant-based diet protein is no problem. Soy for example is a great protein source.
Where do elephants get their protein from? Protein deficiency, indeed, is only possible by a general diet with a deficiency of calories.
Iron: Meat is considered as a great source for iron. But again, there are enough iron sources in a vegan diet, for example lenses, spinach, pumpkin seeds or soy.
Calcium: I've already said that milk contains a lot of calcium but actually shows a negative impact on the body's calcium regulation while moderate calcium admission leads to a higher synthesizing of the body which is positive for the calcium regulation.
In the end of the day, a plant-based diet included all essentiall nutrients. Of course, some nutrients have a higher biological value when they're coming from meat. But eating meat, we Not only eat the nutrients we want, we also est all the carcinogenes, saturated fats, cholesterol und all that stuff that plants don't have. Vegans often have less deficiencies then omnivores since they deal more with their diet.
When you can decide between either getting all our nutrients by causing cruelty, health damages & environment destruction or none of thede, which one would you choose? 🌱
