  • Let there be a transfer of light - Read on, your going to love it! @rev.med⁣ ⁣ We see stuff, stuff passes through the front of the eye (cornea) through the lens. Cornea and lens focus the stuff coming in and lay it all down on the bed. The bed has sheets on the back of the eye called the Retina. This Retina absorbs the stuff turns them into electrochemical impulse and sends it off running the Optic nerve marathon till it reaches the finish line, our REV Med brain! Repeat this to someone and DM us ⁣ Anatomy of the Eyeball ⁣ ⁣ *Optic Nerve - Our connection to the brain, interesting the retina sees upside down, brain turns it right side up, more later. Damage to optic nerve.. think Glaucoma. ⁣ ⁣ *Choroid - Blood vessels that lines the back of the eye. Between retina and sclera. ⁣ *Pupil - The black spot in our eye. Pupil changes size to adjust amount of light. Think Marcus Gunn pupil, you were just about to say that right? ⁣ ⁣ *Cornea - Clear front window of the eye, transmits and focuses light into the eye. You know laser surgery? It reshapes your cornea basically ultimately changing your focus. ⁣ ⁣ *Vitreous Humor - clear gelatinous substance found in the central cavity of the eye. ⁣ ⁣ *Retina - Nerve layer bed sheets that line the back of the eye. Its what senses the light and sends it towards the Optic nerve. ⁣ ⁣ *Iris - The colored part, regulation of amount of light. Bright light —> iris closes pupil = less light. Low light, the iris opens up the pupil to let more light in. ⁣ ⁣ *Lens - Focuses light towards the retina. Think aging, ‘Cataracts’ it deteriorates as we age. ⁣ ⁣ *Macula - Area in retina containing special light sensitive cells. Center of visual field, able to see fine details clearly. Aging results in Macular degeneration… you already knew that. ⁣ ⁣ *Sclera - White coat the eye wears to feel like a doctor! ⁣ @rev.med ⁣ ⁣ Listen we want you to have fun, make it easy and ultimately be the best doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, PA’s, PT’s and smartest human being’s that have ever existed. ⁣ ⁣ Subscribe to our channel, the link is in the bio and see how we make Anatomy easier! ⁣ ⁣ @rev.med@rev.med⁣ ⁣ #eye #REVmed #REVupyourbrain #REVmedicine

  • “Untold Stories” 16”x10” Charcoal on paper. This was a project for my art class last year using Chuck Close’s gridding method to transfer a photo into a drawing. Chuck Close had a neurological disease which prevented him from recognizing faces... so he decided to start making gigantic photorealistic portraits of himself and family/friends to help him better recognize them. • The photo I used to make this drawing was taken by @lee_jeffries and he does incredible work helping others in need, so go check him out too! • @rae_dizzle_ was actually the person who got me into realism, but it’s been a while since I’ve practiced it in drawing. • This is one of my favorite drawings I’ve ever done and I’m very proud of the outcome and meaning behind it! • • • • • #drawing #sketch #charcoal #realism #realistic #photorealism #woman #portrait #eye #eyeball #face #blackandwhite #contrast #texture #large #art #myart #artist #shadow #highlight #hair #photography

  • Once you enter medical school there is one thing you will always remember: you’re first exam. Maybe because of the anticipation but probably because of the fear. Mine was Embryo. I still remember studying for that exam and thinking...”only 8 more years.” Now looking back time has flown so unbelievably fast. I had so many great times throughout my training that I wish I started gramming about them earlier. This is a snapshot of my co-resident and I before an optic nerve sheath fenestration. Study Hard!!
