Are you waiting to exhale or breathing fully and deeply into every moment? Enjoy the journey and ride the breath as you remember all that you have to be grateful for. Never a victim. Always a creator. #GETLOVEDUP#GODISLOVE
Exhaling in @aloyoga ✨
Slowing down on a Sunday 🙏 .
. A short practice of being present. Noticing the breath. Breathing into the belly, feel how it ripples through the body. Seated comfortably, spine long, chin tucked slightly. Inhale. Exhale. .
. Want to join me for guided meditation? Meet me on the mat Mondays 845pm for #restorativeyoga@ammayoga
| Focus on the Exhale |
In the yogic practice of breath control (pranayama), the exhale has a special function. While the inhale is stimulating, the exhale is relaxing. While the inhale is about bringing energy into the body, the exhale is about releasing stress, toxins, and pain.
Because of this, you can use conscious breathing as a break in your day. By focusing on your exhale, you can let go of the past and come into the present with a renewed commitment.
Here's how: Sit up in your chair with your feet on the floor and a long spine. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale through the nose, feeling your spine get longer and taller. Then exhale through your mouth with a deep sigh. As you exhale, visualize the moments of your day moving away from you.
Try this for a few minutes anytime you need to let go of something. It can have a profound effect on your emotional and physical health.
So I’ve been running around like the apocalypse is coming, trying to get things done before the holidays. Can anyone relate? 🙋🏻♀️ And then, in true chaotic fashion, I burned my hand cooking, injured my lower back because I didn’t warm up before teaching and am trying everything to not get sick 🥴 Certainly my body is telling me to slow down, be present and #selfcare
Continuing with themes of presence this week but adding a little joy. Creating sequences focused on breath and repetitive movements to connect and experience moving meditation. It’s a little different than the usual. Come check it out! ✅ Tue WeWork 6pm

Breathing is one of the most natural things we do as humans. It is a gift and a very powerful tool that can enable us to create more ease and balance in our lives. Taking time to focus on the breath allows us to pause from daily stresses, physical symptoms, and emotions that have taken over the mind. It is in that moment where we focus on the breath that we can return to a neutral state of being, gain clarity, and enhance an overall sense of well-being. These are just a few wonderful reasons to invite a pranayama practice into your daily routine. Pranayamas are yogic breathing exercises that have the ability to quickly increase our energy, release stress, improve our mental clarity, and improve our physical health. On the 16th day of Christmas... my favorite that I have hanging up in my office “Exhale” is marked down! This one I reluctantly put up for sale but if someone loves it as much as I do then I’d be willing to part with it ❤️❤️
One of the very first pieces I ever wrote and shared back in ‘15. I believe it to be a universal truth. One that still applies to us all today. One that I reckon always will... 👟.
