They are situated on the western bank of Lake Nasser, about 230 km southwest of Aswan (about 300 km by road). The complex is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Nubian Monuments", which run from Abu Simbel downriver to Philae (near Aswan). The twin temples were originally carved out of the mountainside in the 13th century BC, during the 19th dynasty reign of the Pharaoh Ramesses II. They serve as a lasting monument to the king and his queen Nefertari, and commemorate his victory at the Battle of Kadesh. Their huge external rock relief figures have become iconic. 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀🏛 Share our Wonderful Heritage 🏛 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 #egypt #worldart #ancientegypt #ancient #civilization #egyptian #antiguoegipto #egipto #egiptologia #desert #egyptology #temples #archeology #egitto #archaeology #pyramids #arthistory #museum #ancientegyptian #aswan #pyramid #abusimbel #temple #nefertari #ramses

Civilization: 🔱Ancient Egypt Where:📍 #Luxor - Luxor Museum Family: 👉@europe_treasures | @tesori_italiani⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 The Colossal Statue of Akhenaten is not an isolated example of statues of this Pharaoh. Multiple statues have been discovered that were all located within the court yard of the temple of Aten, Gempaatan, Karnak. Four of these are on display in the Egyptian Museum of Cairo, a further two at Luxor Museum, one in The Louvre Museum, one in Munich Museum and the rest are stored in Karnak and Cairo’s Museums. The statues were created during Akhenaten’s reign (1372 – 1355 B.C.) in the 18th Dynasty (1550 – 1295 B.C.) and are of approximately 5 metres in height. The Pharaoh is represented wearing a Khat headdress which is surrounded by the Sekhmety. His face has slanting eyes, a long nose, thick lips, sunken cheeks and a drooping chin with a false beard attached. The Pharaoh’s arms are crossed over his chest whilst holding the Heka and the Nekhekh. He is also represented with a thin neck, narrow shoulders with a fleshy chest and an unfit abdomen. 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀🏛 Share our Wonderful Heritage 🏛 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 #egypt #worldart #ancientegypt #ancient #civilization #egyptian #antiguoegipto #egipto #egiptologia #akhenaton #egyptology #pharaoh #archeology #egitto #archaeology #pyramids #faraone #museum #ancientegyptian #luxor #egitto #tomb #tutankamon #arqueologia #egyptianmuseum

Civilization: 🔱Ancient Egypt Where:📍 #Cairo - Egyptian Museum Photo: 📸@the_holy_egypt Family: 👉@europe_treasures | @tesori_italiani⠀ ⠀ ⠀ 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 The Mask of Tutankhamun is a death mask of the 18th-dynasty ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun (reigned 1332–1323 BC). It was discovered by Howard Carter in 1925 in tomb KV62 and is now housed in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The mask is one of the most well known works of art in the world. The mask is 54 cm tall, 39.3 cm wide and 49 cm deep. It is fashioned from two layers of high-karat gold, varying from 1.5–3 mm (0.059–0.118 in) in thickness, and weighing 10.23 kg (22.6 lb). X-ray crystallography has revealed that the mask contains two alloys of gold: a lighter 18.4 karat shade for the face and neck, and 22.5 karat gold for the rest of the mask. The face represents the pharaoh's standard image, and the same image was found by excavators elsewhere in the tomb, in particular in the guardian statues. He wears a nemes headcloth, topped by the royal insignia of a cobra (Wadjet) and vulture (Nekhbet), symbolising Tutankhamun's rule of both Lower Egypt and Upper Egypt respectively. The ears are pierced to hold earrings, a feature that appears to have been reserved for queens and children in almost all surviving ancient Egyptian works of art. It contains inlays of coloured glass and gemstones, including lapis lazuli (the eye surrounds and eyebrows), quartz (the eyes), obsidian (the pupils), carnelian, feldspar, turquoise, amazonite, faience and other stones (as inlays of the broad collar). 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀🏛 Share our Wonderful Heritage 🏛 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 #egypt #worldart #ancientegypt #ancient #civilization #egyptian #antiguoegipto #egipto #egiptologia #tutankhamun #egyptology #necropolis #archeology #egitto #archaeology #pyramids #arthistory #museum #ancientegyptian #luxor #kingtut #tomb #tutankamon #arqueologia #egyptianmuseum

  • Thoth is the name given by the Greeks to the Egyptian god Djeheuty. Thoth's roles in Egyptian mythology were many. He served as a mediating power, especially between good and evil, making sure neither had a decisive victory over the other. Thoth is more widely known for serving as scribe of the gods, credited with the invention of writing and alphabets..the hieroglyphs themselves. He was the master of both physical and moral or divine law, making proper use of Ma'at. He is credited with making the calculations for the establishment of the heavens, stars, Earth, and everything in them. He is even said to direct the motions of the heavenly bodies themselves. This mythology also credits him with the creation of the 365 day calendar. Originally, according to the myth, the year was only 360 days long and Nut was sterile during these days, unable to bear children. Thoth gambled with the Moon for 1/72nd of its light, or 5 days, and won. During these 5 days, Nut gave birth to Kheru-ur (Horus the Elder, Face of Heaven), Osiris, Set, Isis, and Nephthys. The first battle took place between Ra and Apophis, the second between Heru-Bekhutet and Set, and the third between Horus, the son of Osiris, and Set. Thoth was also prominent in the Osiris myth, being of great aid to Isis. After Isis gathered together the pieces of Osiris' dismembered body, he gave her the words to resurrect him so she could be impregnated and bring forth Horus. When Horus was slain, Thoth gave the magic to resurrect him as well. Thoth gradually became seen as a god of wisdom, magic, and the measurement and regulation of events and of time. Thoth was also said to be the speaker of the words that fulfilled the wishes of Ra. He was thus said to be the secretary and counselor of the sun god Ra, and with Ma'at stood next to Ra on the nightly voyage across the sky. thank you Rose English #Pharaoh #Civilization #Temples #Museum #History #Visitegypt #Egypt #ägypten #Egipto #Egitto #Luxor #Cairo #Aswan #Hurghada #SharmElshekh #Travel #Discovery #Mummy #Photography #Antiquities #Egyptology #Jewelry #Souvenirs #Gold #Silver #Bracelet #Necklaces #Rings #Tutankhamun #thisisegypt repost

  • #Noticias #NotiEgipto . . #egipto  #antiguoegipto #egypt #ancientegypt #egiptologia #egyptology #egyptian #egiptologo #egyptologist #tumba #tomb #amazingegypt #roma #romano #rome #arqueologia #archeology #cultura #culture #historia #history #construyendoegipto  #news
