A year ago today I handed in my notice to my 9-5 to take a leap of faith into the great unknown of entrepreneurship with @smhtoronto.
And by a leap of faith I mean:
After 6 months of working evenings as a subcontractor
After overanalyzing every element of what it was I thought I was getting myself into
After countless panic attacks and daily anxiety
After being angry with myself for being so scared
After self doubt and self sabotage
After tears and bargaining
After knowing this could be the biggest blow to my ego imaginable
It’s so much easier to think I “could” be great than to actually try
So many creatives are caught in this complex.
In the last year I nearly lost my mind
I found it again
lost it again
& found it
And learned a million things about myself and finances and business and relationships
I learned(ing) about organization and the difference between writing when you feel like it
And writing when you don’t
Between writers block
And like... writers block
This photo describes how I felt then — and for some reason, is still oddly fitting.
It’s been the worst and best year of my life but I wouldn’t change anything —after all it got me where I am right now.

Just a friendly reminder that it has been raining constantly in Red Rock. Although no rain is in the forecast this MLK weekend, do know that it won't be dry enough to be climbed on. #throwbackthursday to when I used to climb 🧗🏼♂️ I remember this being a pretty fun problem at the time.
Was always over muscled and lacking mobility as a climber but it was fun completing problems.
I think many people really over look the element of “fun” & “enjoyment” of training. Your approach to training is going to be influenced by your goal for sure.
I know my goals are not going to be supported by climbing currently! (If only climbing would put kgs on my squat 😂)
BUT for many people who are just looking to be healthier and have a better quality of life there’s so much fun stuff you can do.
I love lifting weights which is a good thing when you have bodybuilding/powerlifting goals BUT if there comes a point when goals are ✅ or the enjoyment of those goals/training is no longer there I will definitely move towards training methods that I find fun such as bodyweight & callisthenics it’s just cool to be able to move.

PRACTICAL individualised solutions that fit in the context of your actual human life, including when things go wrong😫, get crazy 🤪 or crop up out of the blue😲, though seemingly not as glam or spectacular, DO TEND TO STICK and pay off 10 fold compared to short lived ‘optimal’ or ‘overhaul’ solutions which leave us penduluming from one extreme to another or always seeking out the next magic trick!

Climbing at a gym in Shanghai made me realize how good we have in Buffalo although our climbing scene has a lot to be desired. This is one of the better gyms in a city with population of 25 million people. You are looking at 80% of the entire gym. Go Buffalo!

@hi.imdenise again, back with another tip related to RESPECT! I try to bring a trash bag with me every time I go into nature - climbing, hiking, whatever! Can you imagine the impact on the earth and other nature-goers if you picked up trash on your way out? Not to mention, it would set an example to others to not only respect the environment by pack it in, pack it out, but also to turn around and do it themselves!!
Stay on the trail. Trails are there to protect the foliage and groundcover. Allow the foliage space and peace to grow and survive, and beautify the area. Thank you to @accessfund and @bishopclimberscoalition and many others for establishing the trails for everyone to use!
“Pack it in, pack it out” - this includes banana peels and other waste (even biodegradable).
