When I first started using a DSLR to capture images for instagram, I always shot landscape mode and cropped a square out of the center. When IG allowed for 4x5 posts, I reoriented my camera using an L-bracket and shot portrait mode. These days, when I post an old picture that was taken in landscape mode, I usually crop a 4x5 portrait style image from it. I really dislike seeing landscape oriented images on IG. They are just too small. I will add the original unedited photo I used to create this post to my story incase you are interested in seeing what was cut away. .
