So many of you have counted calories to change your weight. 😭
For many it helped to reach your goal but for others it became an obsession, even a tool to create more fear foods, more ways to make yourself feel bad about yourself and more ways to add stress to life.
Intuitive eating and establishing routines/patterns improves disordered eating but for some it maintains the weight that they are at currently, and some even gain weight - if you are already obese or underweight this can cause grief on your mental and physical state. So what should one do if they want to have different weight?
It's hard today because many tools focus on micro food tracking. If you can't handle it, this can make you feel like there is nothing you can do about your weight. If you really feel your weight is hindering you from having the life or movement you want to have, don't feel that there aren't options beyond "dieting". This is about lifestyle change, but also about gaining knowledge about habits. It is not a 4 week quick fix that cutting calories will solve.
Currently we are working on developing tool that can use intuitive eating but teach you value of food on a macro level so you can slowly guide yourself into better choices and with adjusted quantity over months until you get a hang of your new tempo.
Our philosophy is to not eliminate calories but also not include them in day to day operations front and center. We keep them in the "backend". We want our users to be able to track their progress without having to put in every little bite of food, but more focus on hunger levels and overall daily consumption satisfactions.
