I convinced my husband to appear into my video for this one since he’s a part of my daily life and my biggest supporter 😂
Although he takes my photos he isn’t on social media (he lost his IG password a while back and never made a new account) but I still like to photo credit him.
Today’s theme makes me think of how yoga impacts our daily life, and for me yoga extends into everything that I do because it has taught me to breathe in difficult moments (like labor - my breath was all I was focused on the whole time) and it has taught me to believe in myself, love myself fully and with that unconditional love I can extend love to others.
If you sit at a desk all day your posture probably suffers. Good news - you probably also have a chair to stretch with!! Try this out and watch your shoulders, chest, spine, and back open! Breathe deeply and keep the elbows as close as possible! For more modifications, progressions, and foundational poses, check out the ebook (link in bio) 🙏🏻❤️ make sure to share this with someone that could benefit! #yogateacher@actionjacquelyn

Downward facing dog is a shoulder and hamstring opener/strengthener that also works your core. It is extremely beneficial to do because it is also an inversion (your head is below your heart) and a great way to prepare for handstand. We've been together almost 5years now but it feels like foreverrrrr... 👽👽we got married with 2 witnesses in a room on a random day like today 3 years ago swipe for the pic haha! We didn't get wedding rings, we got matching tattoos on our hands to celebrate. Everyone was like "what you're too young to get married?!!!" Lol but i love that we don't care cause that's what we felt like doing and i love that we can just be us. And there's no pressure to conform to anything else... I am me and you are you and together we are the best versions of ourselves (most the time 😜😂) ..I have never felt so much love for another human in my life.. my heart could explode with love and gratitude for you right now!!! The biggest blessing 💖 and you came to me when I least expected it so.... there's a sign for you all... love could only be just around the corner. Never give up on love. LOVE is everywhere and all that is really worth it in the end, we love you! And we think that YOU should love you too! Please celebrate today by loving yourself and others around you. 🤗❤xxx I love you my beautiful sweet alien husband @jimmygalan@_donthateliberate_
I have a clear memory of being told by an adult when I was four that crying wouldn’t solve anything. The need for acknowledgment is at the core of the human condition. As a society driven by authority, we are often told that our emotions, desires, and opinions do not matter. It can be incredibly damaging if, at a young age, we are conditioned to believe this. When children are heard, acknowledged, and allowed to express themselves, we empower them to become emotionally intelligent adults with a strong sense of self worth. It motivates them to pursue their passions and mature into self-actualized and empathic adults. Ground yourself and claim space in the world today. You have a right to be here and EVERYTHING you think and feel matters.

Although Martin Luther King, Jr. did not practice yoga poses, he was a super yogi in so many ways. He lived the lessons that many learn or seek improvement while on the mat without ever having to visit one. Dr. King's actions of self service, patience, nonviolence, love, peace, compassion, and kindness exemplified that. He would have been 90 years old today.
"Nonviolence is a continuum of love-centered thinking that cultivates self, systemic, and social transformation. It is not stagnant. It is strategic non-cooperation with evil." -MLK, Jr.
When I started my yoga journey, I was in a very dark place. A divorced, single mother of two wonderful boys, a tough job that kept me away from home for hours. A suffered 2 major traumas in my life that I was trying to overcome. It wasn't depression, but something very close to it.
Then I attended my first yoga class, and my whole perception, vision and attitude changed. I call it the magic twist of yoga. As if a veil lifted, I started seeing again. I was blind and deaf and I started enjoying sunsets and sunrises again. The beauty of life despite the challanges.
I'm still a divorced, single mother of two, but that doesn't define me as a person anymore. I'm me, in the good and in the bad times
"No matter what the weather, humans keep demanding to have other sentient beings murdered, in order to consume their flesh. That means 10,000 plus six month old babies will have to endure freezing temperatures everyday (and that's just at this one slaughter/murder house of horrors). Is the 15 minutes of pleasure we get from eating the bodies of dead sentient beings worth a lifetime of suffering (and a violent end)? Do you support animal cruelty or are you living vegan/Ahimsa? Make the connection as so many have made before you. Come join us." - Our friend @keegandervegan
Choose compassion. Choose empathy. Choose non-violence. Choose justice. Choose vegan/Ahimsa.

Speciesism refers to discrimination like racism, sexism, casteism etc., which considers that the lives and the interests of non-human animals can be neglected solely because they are from a different species. Humans murder trillions of non-human animals each year just because of this belief that they are simply superior than other non-human animals(Human Supremacy), some non-human animals are superior to other non-human animals based on their physical appearance, usefulness to humans etc., We need to protest and raise our voices to abolish this discrimination. Non-Human Animals feel emotions and they are individuals just like us. Their status as property, reduce them to commodities. This is an unjust state of affairs: animals are not mere objects and must not be considered as the property of others.
Most non-human animals killed in the world are killed for food. Around 70 billion land animals are slaughtered and 2 - 2.7 trillion fish & marine animals are dragged out of their natural habitat and suffocated or crushed to death every year. Cows and egg laying hens are sexually exploited and are reduced to commodities. Millions of non-human animals are skinned alive for their skin and many are abused, tortured for entertainment and sports.
As Humans we have a moral obligation to protect and defend the weak. Non-human animals need you. Will you be their voice? Will you help end their sufferings? #endspeciesism#animalliberation#vegan#veganfortheanimals#untileverycageisempty#veganindiamovement#veganism#justiceforanimals#ahimsa#vegansofindia#vegansofig#govegan
This no drama yama practice is brought to you by the mess my girls left in the studio this weekend. As many of you know I unfortunately had to cancel classes at HSF this week due to the snow and unsafe/limited parking it brought with it. On one hand I was super bummed on the other I was relieved because the studio was a hot mess! This past weekend with my girls was a blast, however with all this fun came a lot of mess! Before the weekend got into full swing I said to the girls as I always do “have fun, enjoy yourself, be creative, but if you make a mess please clean it up.” Alas they did not and they apologized and I accepted. But, it still meant that I spent the past two hours cleaning up the studio! So how does this fit in with our no drama Yama of the week Ahimsa(non-violence)?! Here’s how-we are divine beings having a human experience, we make messes,no big deal, but if we don’t clean up our messes or take accountability/responsibility for them an energetic debt is left virtually unpaid or worse yet someone will pay it for us.This will then negatively affect our relationships with ourself and others aka violence.A prime example of this in our global news is what’s been going on with the National Parks. People have been leaving their messes in the park with no one to clean them up and it is negatively affecting the parks and it’s inhabitants on a massive scale. While this is a big example that clearly affects so many, it can also be something as simple as not putting your dirty laundry in the laundry basket, or leaving dirty dishes in the sink, or saying something intentionally hurtful to someone. This could even be an inward mess of constantly telling yourself your not good enough, smart enough, strong enough or whatever enough-you fill in the blank. We make messes EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US! I encourage you to use the practice of non-violence on and off your mat-by starting to notice your messes and then make an effort to clean them up or maybe not make them in the first place. Say your sorry, clean the dish in the sink, and for goodness sakes put your dirty unmentionables in the hamper/washer!🤪ps you just did yoga✋🏼

Reflection from today’s reading:
(In my own words)
Keep in mind when someone gets angry at you, speaks to you in a condescending way, yells or twists your words into something negative it’s often a form of protecting themselves and shows there current state of mind. Whether it’s from a conscious or unconscious space.
These responses should be returned with understanding rather than with equal energy. It is more than likely not about you but with something within themselves.
Meet them with empathy versus judgment. 📖🧠💪🏽🙏🏽💙

True Life: I’m Addicted to Açaí Bowls. I seriously don’t think there is anything better than starting your day with a bowl of goodness like this one. A few of my topping staples include granola, hemp hearts, cacao nibs, and a variety of fresh fruits. Thanks to the girls at Bailey’s Blendz for never disappointing. Where are my other açaí addicted at?
Ahimsa è il primo valore dello Yoga. Ahimsa vuol dire non violenza. .
This was taken right before massaging in the date sugar.
After massaging, it became very grainy, and with the graininess, came frustration.
I then put half the mixture in a blender with some of the whey, and it became very creamy, like pudding.
I mixed the pudding-like half with the grainier half, and it was very sticky.
I was concerned it would stick to the pan, as you have to heat the cheese one more time after adding the sweetener, but Iathered it down in the pot anyways.
Over the lowest heat possible, I mixed, and mixed, and mixed for what felt like ages.
I noticed the mixture start to firm up, and so i took it off the heat, and waited for it to cool.
With wet hands (it was still a bit sticky), I rolled the sandesh in to balls, and pressed in the center with my thumb (imitating a thumbprint cookie), and filled the center with a raspberry-blueberry jam I made.

Hi friends, it’s been a while.
I’ve been really busy with seva and school, but both naturally tie in to this page, so I’ll try to be more active with posting.
Yesterday I went through a very long, and fun process of making Sandesh.
Sandesh is a traditional Bengali sweet made from milk, turned into a very soft cheese, then massaged until smooth with a sweetener, and other flavorings of choice.
It’s then heated stovetop, cooled, shaped, and topped.
There are so many tips and tricks to this sweet, and I’m still in the learning process 🤓
If any of you have suggestions, I’d love to hear them.
You can post them below ⤵️
Tuesday tip - #konmari style part 2 😏
As we begin to recognize the difference between items that spark joy and items that do not via the konmari method, you may notice emotions start to arise or you find that you have difficulty parting with these items. Clearing out what you do not need, or in this case, what does not spark joy, is the practice of nonattachment. •
In yoga, the practice of non attachment is called Aparigraha. It is one of the five yamas. The yamas guide our behavior and how we interact with ourselves and the world.
The Yamas are:
1. ahimsa - nonviolence
2. Satya - truthfulness
3. asteya - non stealing
4. brahmacharya - preservation of ones energy
5. Aparigraha - nonattachment •
To practice non attachment is very difficult. Humans like to collect things - anything! We collect accomplishments (I am very guilty of this), items, test or game scores, people, food, money... One way I practice non attachment is through observing when I’m more invested in the outcome versus the process. If we are attached to the outcome of something, it’s really hard to be present and enjoy the moment. For example, when I’m on my mat, instead of working on a specific pose to achieve a more advanced version of the posture, I’ve just been enjoying doing asanas based on how I’m feeling. Another way to practice non attachment is through the #konmarimethod!
What are you doing to practice Aparigraha? •
