I’ve seen these rocks on instagram several times but I didn’t know the meaning behind them until we visited. The structure as well as the location is meant to be symbolic of the midway between artificial and natural. The natural is the desert and the artificial is the constant flow of traffic between LA and Vegas.
I couldn’t help but be reminded of Instagram, that midway between natural and artificial. Posts are “real everyday moments” (natural) that are staged and composed to be aesthetically pleasing (artificial). That’s why you can never ever compare your life to someone else’s on Instagram. No matter how real they are, there’s still a bit of artificial, you just don’t see the whole picture.
For example, right before shooting here, Bassam and I had a pretty intense disagreement. Looking at the photos, you’d probably never know. And that’s how it usually is. You never know what’s going on with someone- whether on Instagram or not.
That’s why I’m a big advocate of 1. Giving others grace and not judging, because you never know and 2. Not comparing yourself, because again, you don’t know the full story. I’m not so great at the not comparing but I’m working on it!

Here they are! My Paperwhites have bloomed!✨⚪️✨Not all of them but most of the bulbs have bursted into these gorgeous little flowers! I have them sitting on my dining room buffet table where the sunlight keeps them looking pretty. And they smell so sweet.😍 If you’ve seen my ‘plants’ stories you can see the progress they’ve made from when I first got the bulbs. They’re great to have around the house during the drab winter months!👌🏽You can check out the blog where I have a full post on how to grow them if you’re interested in giving them a try!🌱Linking my ginger jars, cake stand and cloche.
Synchronized swimming or synchronized sweets? Take your pick ( #ad). Spoiler alert: I choose sweets! Take a moment this holiday season to make someone's day with a sweet surprise from @marswrigleyconfectionery. I love gifting my husband sweets with peanut butter, they're his absolute favorite (have you tried those PB @MMSChocolate? YUM!) #bettermoments
The sun is shining through the frost and the air is that perfectly fresh, crisp cold. Today... will be good. #apleasantlittlekitchen

Some of you have asked, so here are my favorite finds from the souk in Marrakech: Berber rug from @palaissaadien, handmade ceramics by a collective of Moroccan artisans, a silver teapot etched with designs of Marrakech, and Berber earrings. I also brought home some gifts and it all fit in my new suitcase by @away 🏺🧶🇲🇦 #freelancelife
