It’s crazy to think that after having my family pushed out of this very country due to deportation this is actually happening. That after we lost everything and we were forced to leave our belongings and family behind the moment is finally here. I remember living in Mexico and going to school the very first day and being terrified! I didn’t know how to read or right in Spanish but despite that I managed to make some great friends and be one of the top in my class. I had to learn to embrace a culture I was unfamiliar with, so much that I now call it my own.
Here we are many years later ready to graduate from the number one public university in the world. This country that didn’t want us here wasn’t ready for someone as resilient as Me. I’m back, I’m better and stronger than ever. In just 13 days I will be graduating from UC Berkeley with a bachelors in urban studies and a minor in architecture💙💛. All my families struggles and sacrifices were worth it. Not even with all the obstacles that life has put us through did we stop hechandole ganas. AL FIN LO HICIMOS!!!👩🏻🎓✊🏽💙💛🐻 #ucberkeley#latina#firstgeneration#calgrad#bayarea

What a day! My time in Berkeley has officially come to a end 💔. Not only is today Mother’s Day but today i also took my last final, it almost doesn’t feel real. I know it seems like that’s all my posts say these days but it’s true. I just sit down and think back at everything my family has had to go through over the years and to see where we are now is just mind blowing to me. Despite all the hardships I would always tell myself I was gonna be successful. That I was going to achieve my dreams no matter what anybody may think and here is step 1. Just 2 more days for graduation and 4 more for my program abroad ✈️. I’m happy, sad, excited, scared, everything all at once 😭 👩🏻🎓💙💛 #cal#mothersday#storiesofus#mexicana#calgrad#ucberkeley#sathergate#firstgeneration

Congratulations to all the graduates! May all your dreams come true! Repost @thecesarcamacho There will never be a wall high enough to keep Latinos from slaying! The challenges we go through as minorities only make us stronger and make us appreciate the hard work our ancestors had to go through. We not only walk down the stage for ourselves but most importantly for our families and those who’ve paved the way for us to have a voice. I don’t know how I’ll ever thank my parents enough for the sacrifices they’ve had to go through as Mexican immigrants in this country, but what I do know is that I’ll make sure to bring other Latinos on this path to continue giving corporate America some flavor (porque ya sabemos muy bien que le falta sazón!!!)! Can’t wait to walk again on Saturday and receive my Masters as a proud, first generation, queer, resilient LATINO 👨🏽🎓🇲🇽🇺🇸🕺🏻 #StoriesOfUs#okurr#firstgen#FlashbackFriday#FABLatinos#immigrad#latinx#QueerLatinoPride#PrideMonth#LatinxGradCaps#diversity#bardigang#sisepudo

Who else has mixed feelings about the term girl boss? I love seeing women empowered to be confident in their careers, be entrepreneurs and invest in themselves but that phrase just doesn’t quite sit right. Maybe because it fails to show the blood, sweat and tears behind the scenes. Maybe because it seems like every Instagram user in a pyramid scheme sliding into my DMs self has Girl Boss in her profile. To which I respond: Thank U, Next
“Do you know how much I love you?”
“Where do you feel it?”
“In my heart,” she says as she places her hand on her heart.—
This is a favorite repeated interaction I have with my niece, Annalise. I’m crazy about her. Always have been. But these past 4 months have been very special, as I’ve gotten to spend uninterrupted time with her, now that I’m living under the same roof in Nashville. My favorite activity is both searching for and reading her books to from the library @nowatnpl — especially ones that help her or talk about worrying, sorting through feelings. If you follow me on goodreads, this now explains why I’ve read and rated so many children’s books. Do you have any recommendations for excellent children’s picture books ? I delight in finding news ones. I also have ambitions to write my own, incorporating my art and talking about feelings. #sarahhartart

STORY OF BIRTH :
"Don’t kill me mom”, said the infant from within,
Paying no heed, they committed the sin,
Years later, her mother fled away with the girl unborn,
Seeing her first smile, the hospital was adorn.
The girl started growing up with her mother all alone,
She protected her from the deadly world unknown,
She went to school, she learnt things fast,
Her intellect left everyone aghast.
She grew up, She went to college,
She wanted some beauty with her knowledge,
The Indian attire was transformed to Western,
She thought, It would make her look modern.
Days went by, she was lost in friends’ company,
No more was she in her Mother’s custody,
Mumma felt lonely, the girl had no time,
She consoled herself, thinking it was the girl’s climb.
She pleaded for a late night party,
Mumma said yes, but dis-hearty,
She was returning home, late in the night,
4 men came around, with a smile very bright.
Today her Mom, lights a candle in her memory,
Praying this happens to none other in the century,
“Why did I elope when you were young?”,
“Like your sister, you should have been flung.”

In November 2016, our founder was invited to speak at Imagine Talks, an organization focused on women's empowerment. One month later, her non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis changed her life.
Feeling sidelined by an aggressive chemotherapy regimen while the world went on was often worse than the actual side effects. Soon, Stephanie learned that this would be a test of resilience, one that would lead to incredible life changes. She's grateful to get the opportunity to finally speak after all.
A diagnosis of any kind isn't easy. Each story is so different. No two people have the same experience- physical, mental, or emotional. There's guilt about survivorship. Worry about recurrence. A little bit of everything to check each box...
But the biggest lesson for her may have been the same for many others: living life can only be done moment by moment. Learning how to sit still without distraction can be frustrating but figuring out how to do it has been the most rewarding.
We hope to see you there if you're in the area! DM us for a discount code :).
✍🏻If you could speak about one thing, what would it be?
👇🏻Tell us below and maybe Stephanie will be able to incorporate that in her talk!
