#WomensWednesday ❤️ My name is Fahima Falaknaz, a single independent woman from the United Arab Emirates and specifically from Dubai. I work as a marketing and communication assistant manager.
I did my first spartan race in Lake Tahoe world championship 2017. Being an arab and a muslim woman first of all and involved in such an amazing world of champions makes makes me feel proud of myself having broke all the barriers which the society surrounded us (women) with. I now have a responsibility of spreading the word to women worldwide and inspiring them to stand up for themselves and draw their path the way they want and not to allow anyone to chose it for them.
I race to keep myself mentally fit because going to spartan race is like going to war hehehe. The feeling after finishing the race is just incredible and unbelievable. I feel proud of myself having gone through all the obstacles and running that long course 👏🏼❤️ #SpartanWomen
"Pain is weakness leaving the body"
Spartan Sprint Elite ✔
It's an honor to race with some of the strongest top females 🙏 Allows me to push myself to reach new limits and recognize where I need to train harder to get to that next level not only physically but mentally and emotionally as well.
The Sandbag carry was the most difficult moment throughout this race for me, my body was tired, and affected my mental state (doubting my abilities) as I attempted to keep up with such powerful women. 😥 After realizing that I felt myself slow down and get comfortable, I knew I had to get out of my comfort zone sooner than later. To push through the pain and keep grinding, because that's the vital part...where growth takes place.💪 I looked around to take in the view from this hilltop, as far as my eyes could see, to absorb this moment in time. Took a deep breath, and smiled as I kept placing one foot in front of the other, because I overcame, and I could feel the power and passion to keep going brewing in my veins.
Repost @spartanwomen Sometimes it is so easy to stay put because it’s what we know. We fall victim to circumstance. We feel so rooted in place. Maybe it’s all we know. Maybe we think it’s the way it has to be or supposed to be. But we don’t have to. Our bodies are amazing machines and our minds the powerful engines. We control so much more than we realize. We just have to believe we can. #whosaysuoucant#youvegotthepower#iam1stphorm#youarenotatree#spartanwomen

More of a log pile than a fire jump but I finally managed to get a photo of me actually jumping over the fire. Now if someone could just teach me how to do a backflip that would be awesome... 🤞🏽
Sometimes, the best journey are the ones we didn't win. It's how we got through the journey! #FireJumpFriday#FriendshipFriday .
The last Spartan Race Beast APAC, I decided to still do the race despite my knee injury. It's that sense of mental fulfilment that pushed me but I had to remind myself that I should just take it easy. Good thing I bumped into @colleenspartanmma who's also injured and decided we're just going to fire jump together. @jesschou19 caught up to us and decided she'll join our fire jump party! 😁 It was definitely the longest Spartan Race Beast we've ever ran, but it clearly reminded me why I started this sport and why I love it.
Woohoo its Friday🎉a busy day at work then home to train and chill with my boys💕As a mother with a full time jobb and wanting to train it needs abit of planing, it’s not always easy! But if there’s a will there’s a way💪🏼Have a fantastic friday and weekend🤗
I never claimed to be fast but I claim to never give up. It’s not everyday you meet someone who gained weight while training for spartan races and a half marathon but here I am! And my chunky self will continue to jiggle across finish lines because life is hard but I’m tougher. There’s not many people who can say they ran a half marathon let alone run 13.2 miles at 200lbs. So I’m damn proud of myself.
On a funnier note, I look like I’m dying in all of the pictures the race photographers took of me. But I’m running my best in every photo. This one was taken right at the finish line. Both feet were cramping and my legs were working harder than they ever have before. I’m going to frame this photo and hang it in my house for the rest of my life. I’m looking forward to next years racing and hiking adventures. #beastmode#spartanwomen#fitnessjourney#halfmarathon#biggirlscandoittoo
My first Spartan Beast was in Montana 2016 - I was so nervous I almost threw up at the start line 😂. It took us 7.5 hours and there were many times I didn’t think I would make it, the hills were steep but the views were beautiful, I cursed but also laughed, I was frustrated with myself for failing obstacles and proud of myself for conquering others. I was frozen in fear at the Stairway to Sparta and forever grateful to the man who lifted me up onto it and told me to just go, then proceeded to follow me and distract me. My best friend and I got ourselves over the 10 foot wall and she patiently coached me down the other side. The barbed wire crawl was insanely long and I ripped my pants open exposing my butt cheek 😂. In the end we finished that race feeling amazing, we pushed ourselves in new ways and did something we both weren’t sure that we could do 💪🏻. It will always be one of my favorite race memories with my bestie 🙌🏻.

Just as summer bodies are made in the winter, so are runner bodies. I saw the track team that I joined this summer post a half marathon for March. That's about 3 months away. Whenever you look into a running program, it is usually a minimum of 3 months long. -
To make sure I'm in optimal running shape, I'm back to lifting legs twice a week to hopefully gain speed. Today I did the following EMOM (every minute on the minute)
1. 12 hip thrusters
2. 12 weighted squats
3. 12 burpees
4. Bulgarian split squats (12 each leg)
6. Good mornings
If you need help creating a program, let me know, I'm happy to help! -
Let me know if you try this! You can definitely feel the burn! -
Was putting these together for an article and figured it’s probably time for a little bitta dat #FlashbackFriday action 😉 .
If a pale, skinny-fat girl who had never touched weights in her life can get to where I am (...still pale tho 🧛🏻♀️) then I genuinely believe anyone can. .
The best thing is, I didn’t start out with this as a goal. I was just going along for the ride and enjoying the process. That’s how to get sustainable results. If you hate the journey, how are you going to keep it up at the end?
Make your changes small, incremental, and gradually build a lifestyle you love. Wherever you end up living that lifestyle if where you’re meant to be. .
Will this change for me over time? Almost definitely. Priorities are different at different points in life - something I’m still learning to be okay with myself 🤷🏻♀️ but as long as I love how I’m living, I’m hoping I can live how I’m looking too 🤗
I thought about doing a Spartan 2018 post with all my medals to brag about my proudest moments this season; then I realized that would be a lie. My proudest moments were actually spent on the sidelines, with my cowbell in hand. I will never understand how I got lucky enough to have all these far from basic people in my life, but I love every second of the chaos. To my absolute closest friends and family, you guys have given me one heck of a good time this Spartan season and I can’t wait to watch you kick ass again in 2019. #BeatLaura
Have been working on some essential life-skills over the last little while. 😝
Handstand-Shoulder-Tap ➡️ Handstandwalk. Yay. It’s been so much fun. Soon I’ll be better walking on my 🖐🤚 than 👣! 😆
Thankful for opportunities to challenge myself and thankful for the friends who motivate and help me achieve these challenges #thankfulthursday#spartanwomen

2a - Single arm cable pulldowns - 4 x 12R
2b - Rope cable row - 4 x 12R
3 - Pull-ups - 4 x Failure
4a - Single arm cable bicep curls - 3 x 8R
4b - DB hammer curls - 3 x 15R
5 - Banded bicep curls - 3 x Failure
Twassss a FUN time 🤪👏🏽😅
Always a good feeling when your workout is done by 6:30am 💪🏽 Long, steady heart rate run this morning, finished off with some 100m running sprints. Now that my injury is improving, I'm working on building up my overall distances; considering going for that purple belt buckle in 2019 🤔

Overcoming challenges! @spartan taught me many lessons, but the most important was that no matter what it is in life that weighs you down, you can get past it and come out as a stronger person.
