“Black or White” started its run of seven weeks atop the US Billboard Charts today in 1991! Of his transformation in the short film, Michael said: “I want to do a dance number where I can let out my frustration about injustice and prejudice and racism and bigotry, and within the dance I became upset and let go. I think at the time people were concerned with the violent content of the piece, but it's, like, easy to look at. It's simple."

Michael Jackson was honored at the 2000 “Angel Ball” alongside President Bill Clinton and Jordan’s Queen Noor. The G&P Foundation recognized his efforts to fight cancer, and the star-studded benefit raised more than $4 million that night for the effort. As he accepted the award, Michael said: “Cancer is the number one killer of children. And it is only when we join together on evenings like this, that we can summon the courage and determination to stop it from ever robbing another child of the precious gift of life or a parent of the joy of watching their child grow. God bless you all for all the love and support you have offered this evening and I love you all very much. Thank you.”

There was no one more spectacular.
“And though he's now in the 14th month of his world tour, it was endearing during the show's third number, "Another Part of Me," to see the look of pure, beatific bliss on Jackson's face as he closed his eyes, spun around, landed on his toes and did all the usual right moves. Jackson really seemed to be still enjoying this--caught up and self-hypnotized in his own private, wonderful world.” – The LA Times reviews Michael’s show at Irvine Meadows, November 7, 1988
